My experience with this fish
The can came intact and a bit puffy. Normal for this stuff. Iโd recommend opening outdoors. Pop the can while itโs submerged in large pot or bucket of cold water. It does smell bad at first. Let it burp off all the air while itโs submerged. Then you can drain it and open the can the rest of the way. The fillets will be tattered and sometimes a bit gooey and yes there are bones. I put the fish on flat bread with plain boiled potato, sliced onion and sour cream. Itโs salty, strong but good funky smelling fish. Not everyone will like it. My can had about six fillets or chunks . They arenโt packed in there like a sardine. Itโs more liquid than fish because theyโre fermented and broken down. My grandmother served this during special occasions. This brought back fond memories.

It wasn't fermented; it was decayed!
I purchased this for our next family get together; I thought it would be hilarious! It took a while to receive, and when it showed up, the can was so swollen that it looked ready to pop. Nonetheless, i have no history with this product, and I knew it was fermented, so I thought little of it. About 6-7 months later, we open it. It almost exploded, and there was absolutely no meat anywhere in the can. The sticker said it would be best if used by February 2026 - 4 months away. But there was just bones in what can only be described as a froth of rotten-smelling swill. There are a lot of fermented foods that i enjoy, but this did NOT smell of fermentation; it smelled of rotted meat. We thought this was going to be an interesting and amusing cultural experience; instead, I can say that the entire experience was ruined.

Be careful with order timing
While my can was unfortunately very over fermented and I did not get to enjoy the product, the seller was sincere and apologized for the inconvenience. I will likely be trying this again in the future. PS- the smell really isn't that bad. Make sure to open it underwater or you'll have a bad time

No fish inside
Worst of the worst, absolute waste of money. Opened the can and only pink liquid and bones inside. Not a single actual piece of fish, don't waste your time with this one, buy something else.

this was intense!!!
Okay, I finally tried it ... and holy macaronii. The smell was very intense. I opened the can and it hit me ... it was like a fishy, cheesy, mustardy explosion that hit your face. Once you get past the initial shock of smell and eat a chunk, there's a salty and tangy flavor that's not as overpowering as one might expect. It's like a fermented, fishy version of blue cheese. Would I buy it again? Yes. Would I recommend it to everyone? Definitely not. This is for those who want to experiment and has enough courage to eat a fish which has been sitting in a can for months.

Don't waste your money!
Seriously, fully decayed! Sent contact to seller that closed it the next day with no response. I'd give it one star if 1 star was electable. This is a terrible was of money considering how many people seem interested in trying it. I hope Amazon notices all the poor reviews and shuts the seller down. It's really a shame, a darn shame to see any seller ack this way and sell this poor quality product.
