HI-TEC Men's Altitude VI I Waterproof Leather Hiking Boots - Black or Brown, Medium or Extra Wide

I absolutely love these boots, I can’t believe how awesome they are! The insoles are amazing. I bought these so that I could hike everyday at a local nature park, with rough natural trail, to lose weight, here in rainy Portland, Oregon where trails are wet most of the time. I have been hiking about 6 miles per day, nearly everyday, for past 4 months. That’s about 700 miles of rough, steep, wet trails that I’ve walked in these boots you see here. And they are as comfortable as the day I bought them! My feet simply don’t feel sore in them. I feel like I could hike 12 hours a day in these boots and my feet would still be fine. Through thick mud, deep puddles of clear water, slippery slopes, sharp rocks, these boots leave my feet dry and comfortable like I’m walking on air. Other hiking boots (that cost more money) make my feet feel sore after 1-2 hours. Not these boots, I love them. Initial laces broke, no biggie, buy replacements. I did have to put new sole inserts (Dr. Scholls?) into them after about 400 miles of hiking, no biggie. If you want good value, get these boots, hopefully in your right size.

What I like about this product: HI-TEC Men's Altitude VI I Waterproof Leather Hiking Boots - Black or Brown, Extra Wide is truly extra wide. I have a hard time finding boots and shoes to fit me properly because my feet are so wide. This fit like a glove, very comfortable and have enough extra room for my arch supports. The boot laces are stretchy and durable and have a long length. This product has quality machine stitching on the leather. The bottom waffle pattern rubber is sturdy, making the shoe skid resistant, good for traction, able to have snow cleats attached to them. The waterproof feature makes for an outstanding product in all types of weather conditions and terrains, keeping your feet dry and comfortable. I highly recommend this product! My last pair of leather waterproofed HI-TECH boots lasted 6-years. I am hoping these will be as sturdy as them. Thank you for reading my review.

I've worn hiking boots for work for years. My career path changed for a little while and took me into the office but now I'm back in a position that does have to go to the field quite often. I'm still in management so these boots aren't going to be heavily used but I still need something I can get dirty if I have to. These boots fit perfectly. I wear a 12 or 13 depending on manufacturer. I got a 12 in these and they're great. I have a narrow foot so a normal D width is usually a little wide but these aren't that bad. The footbed is very comfortable with lots of support. It's taken 2 weeks to get them broken in and my feet did hurt during that period. However now that they are broken in, they're very comfortable.

I bought a pair of Altitude Hikers - the very first version, years ago and I've owned nearly every iteration since. I'm not trying to stay on the cutting edge or anything - I just wear out a pair about every 18 months... I'm not a hiker or trekker - I wear the boots to make deliveries and put a few thousand miles on a pair going through moderate terrain and nasty weather. The uppers always give up well before the tread is gone... We'll see how these (new) Michelin soles wear... To be Honest, I wasn't very happy with the later model's (V +) sizing and quality control, going so far as returning my next-to-last pair (VI?) for a refund. I saw the VII's and liked the price so I decided to take a chance. So very glad I did. They're perfectly sized, no fraying or stitch "tags", everything well glued without over"squish" between the sole and upper and fully sewn-in lining. I put them on and THEY FIT PERFECTLY. I'm really impressed with the turn-around in quality and value with the Altitude series hikers. In my experience, these boots, as a whole, are truly comfortable from day 1, wear well, grip everywhere and, did I mention, they're comfortable. I highly recommend them, especially for daily wear.

Excellent, I thought the color black wouldn’t look good but it does. Soft inside and the break in only took a few hours. Typical Hi-Tec. Delivery took only a couples of days.

I've been buying this boot for over a decade. They used to be tough, and perfectly waterproof, but the sole was kind of weak and wore out quickly. Then they went with the Michelin sole that these have, and while the sole is impervious to wear, the quality of the rest of the boot is terrible. The laces fray, the inner lining breaks down, there's no pull on the back, which degrades the structure of the heel, making it easier to roll and ankle if you misstep. The seams rupture after a few months. When they're brand new, they're great for the first two months. After that, you feel like you wasted your money. If you're just looking for an inexpensive hiking boot for an upcoming vacation, this is probably your best option. You can use them for a few weeks and toss them in the trash. If you're looking for a great boot that will stand the test of time, these can barely make it through one winter of walking the dog in the woods.

These Hi Tec Altitude boots have been my go to for many years. I am very pleased that Hi Tec continues to produce this shoe. I can order them online with complete confidence that they will be a great fit. They are light, durable and comfortable. The sole has been one of the best parts year after year. It gives good traction and long life. I would know. I’ve worked in them for over twenty five years. I was a delivery driver. I was on my feet all day walking and walking. This boot was the only one that I could rely on to make it through the harsh, wet and brutally cold and snowy winters of west Michigan. I’ve retired now. I will be using my Hi Tec Altitudes for hiking and other outdoor activities. I know I can count on them for all the fun and adventure that my wife and I have planned in our new Arizona home. I wear these for work or leisure, hiking or shopping. I have no reoccurrence of plantar fasciitis since wearing these and I spend 8 hours on my feet standing from 5-7 days a week. My feet do not get exhausted as quickly as they do with less supportive footwear. Completely waterproof as well. I have nothing to say that is negative about these. Will continue to buy new ones as the old ones wear out.

Love them, best fitting boots/shoes I've had thank you. It's so hard finding size 15 extra wide. I will be a repeat customer when I need some new ones and maybe even before. Truly for all the people with huge feet my feet thank you.

The way these boots are curved and shaped where the laces are located, makes them easy to put on and take off and makes them comfortable to wear.

The Xtra wide is Xtra wide ! I have an xtra wide foot and many manufacturers will say xtra wide when there not even wide just stretch. These boots fit like they should out of the box. Well worth the dollars!
