After converting my Sony FX30 to a V-mount power system, I needed a dependable dummy NP-FZ100 battery to replace the internal battery for longer shoots. This has been running as part of my setup for several months now, and it's performed flawlessly. It's connected to my SmallRig V-mount battery plate and SmallRig 99Wh V-mount batteries, allowing me to power the camera all day without constantly swapping batteries or worrying about charge levels. Combined with an external battery system, it makes the FX30 much better suited to longer productions. One thing that really impressed me is that it doesn't trigger any battery compatibility warnings on the FX30. The camera powers up normally without displaying the non-genuine battery messages that can sometimes appear with third-party power solutions, which gave me confidence to leave it installed permanently. The cable and connectors feel well made, and the coiled cable is ideal for camera rigs because it stays tidy while still providing enough flexibility to accommodate different mounting positions. I'm also using a third-party replacement battery door with a cable exit, which allows the dummy battery cable to leave the camera cleanly while keeping the battery compartment closed. Together, they make for a much neater and more practical external power setup. My rig also includes a SmallRig HawkLock cage, DJI Focus Pro, Portkeys LH5C monitor and Fujinon MK18-55 T2.9 and MK50-135 T2.9 cine zooms, so reliability is essential. After multiple shoots, this dummy battery has been completely dependable with no unexpected power interruptions. If you're moving an FX30 or another NP-FZ100-powered Sony camera over to a V-mount workflow, this is an excellent solution. It's one of those components that quietly does its job every time, allowing you to concentrate on filming instead of battery management.

I have been a fan of smallrig products with years and yet again this doesn't disappoint. Well made, good price, no complaints.

An exstramly usfull item. Perfect if you need more power than a standard NP-FZ100 can produce. Plug this into your D-Tap battery and off you go! Great Cable, perfect for when I'm out and about with no acsess to the mains. 5*****

£50 at time of review For time lapse photography I use a USB battery pack connected to the camera via the USB port, which is OK, but as I have an automated slider, I’ve always been wary about the USB cable becoming loose when the camera moves along the slider… this is way more secure and worked perfectly, plus my D-Tap battery pack can take two NP-F970 batteries that will last a week or shooting! This is a smart little adaptor if like me you often do longer shoots This saves replacing batteries and allows you to have big batteries with d-tap outputs to run your camera for much longer, I use these on my Sony a7 iv's and they are quality adaptors with nice coiled leads and absolutely zero compatibility issues, all in all, a very good bit of kit.

It’s was no useful and I can’t refund the item.

First one was replaced after very limited use. Replacement has now failed. Bought Feb 2026. However I contacted customer service at Smallrig who responded immediately and they sent another replacement.

He comprado varios accesorios de SmallRig y siempre me han ido de maravilla; es una marca en la que confío bastante. Esta batería ficticia D-Tap cumple exactamente con su función y no me ha dado ningún problema técnico al alimentar mi cámara desde una batería externa. Le pongo 4 estrellas en lugar de 5 por un detalle estético y de construcción: la batería en sí se siente un poco simple, hecha de un plástico muy ligero que no se ve tan "pro" ni se compara al material y acabado de una batería original de Sony. No sé si esto sea el estándar en este tipo de baterías ficticias en el mercado, pero me sorprendió un poco esa sensación al tacto. De todas formas, considerando el precio tan accesible que tiene, tampoco se puede pedir mucho más. Si buscas algo que funcione de manera confiable sin gastar una fortuna, es una excelente opción, solo ten en cuenta que el acabado se siente bastante plástico.

Ho comprato questo articolo per utilizzarlo con la batteria V mount smallrig. Funziona tutto perfettamente. Il cavo è spesso ma morbido e la batteria di buona costruzione.
