WOW!
This game was on my wishlist for almost a year, now that I finally bought it I have to say that I was surprised. Its awesome! It's something between a worker placement and a war game... yet it's nothing like a worker placement game nor a war game. You control one of five different armies, each represented by unique minis, that try to get 8 or 10 Victory Points before any other player. You can get this game by:a) Direct Conflict with other players. When you go to "war" you don't roll dice, instead you pick one of six different cards to play in the conflict resolution phase, whoever has the most strength wins. Simple right?, well.... not really. One can purchase different favors to aid your armies by shielding the damage or inflicting more damage or you can also invoke powerful mythical creatures like a Phoenix or a Sphinx to aid you in combat. The tricky part is that you only get points if you attack and win... if you defend and win you don't get anything! You'll try to inflict as much damage to the attacking army so you can decimate the troops and counter attack later with strength! Also... there are some little powerful cards that are called Divine Intervention... you get one at random every turn that helps you in combat!b) Controlling temples. You can move one of your armies to to a temple and gain a temporary VP, the only big problem is that every other greedy armie will try to take that VP from your hand.c) Purchasing different tiles that give you permanent VP. There are very few so this is not a really amazing way of winning, yet they can help you win in the last turn!d) Leveling up your pyramids. Yes, you level up some cool looking piramides (they are D4s). You have three of them so you can get 3 Temporary VP... if you hold them. The enemy can attack your starting city and take your pyramids. This seems kinda cliche, fight, fight and fight to win, and that's right, you cannot be a passive player in this game but neither a clumsy attacker. Need some strategie and tactical thinking because you need some resources named Prayer Points. You need them almost for everything, purchasing favor tiles, hiring new dudes to fight for you, leveling your pyramids, teletransporting your armies (yes and it's not a broken ability) or using your DI...Lots of stuff to do!It seems kinda complex but it plays like a breeze... unless you take your time to think every move.On the other hand the player minis are... well... ok, they are unique and well designed... yet they are really small. The creatures on the other hand... WOW! amazing production, the bad thing is that there are only 7: Sphinx, Mummy, Giant Scorpion, Royal Scarab, Deep Desert Snake, Ancestral Elephant and the Phoenix.Amazing game! Love it!

A fantastic "sister" game to Cycledes
Risk meets The Scorpion King. A fantastic "sister" game to Cycledes! But unlike Cyclades (where you can turtle) Kemet is only for the brave and bold. See, in this game you ONLY...and I do me ONLY...get victory points for ATTACKING and HOLDING terrritory/objectives. You get nothing...and I do mean nothing...for playing defensive. What's more, Kemet dispenses with the auction/bidding on the fickle gods for your turn options (boo, hiss!) and adds a clever TECH TREE that allows you to obtain monsters (giant scorpions) magical abilities and other special powers. And your power levels (the tech trees are colored red, blue and white) are based on how far you've advanced your pyramids-which are GIANT RED, BLUE and WHITE 4-SIDED DICE- that are rooled...er..flipped each time you increase their powers through various actions! Sheer genius, simple fun!Until the TITANS expanstion, Kemet was the superior game as compared to it's sister Cycledes. But now, it's dead evern. Cycledes requires a bit more strategy and preplanning, where as Kemet is a great all-out attack and destroy my enemies game. You can't go wrong with either. It's simply a matter of what you're in the mood for. Also, the Tal-Seti expansion is HIGHLY recommended.

A Masterpiece.... REALLY!
This is a difficult game to explain to people because it has a little bit of many different elements. Once folks play it once, however, the standard response in my game room is "this is an awesome game". The "gotcha" element of the game means that everyone has to be considered as a threat at all times. In fact, most winners end up being the player least feared by everybody else.It has resource management, some area control, some combat, individual powers, and all of it works together very well. Somebody play-tested the snot out of this game. The only downside is the time it takes for setup and cleanup, but the game is so enjoyable that it is worth the trouble. An entire game with new players will be over in 2 hours or so, but with veterans it will go very quickly, especially when folks get comfortable enough to plan their moves during other player's turns. When a game is over, most of us sit back from the roller coaster ride and say "wow...". It really is that good.

Solid game to add to your collection
Good game, I enjoy it. I first introduced this game to my family (we play a lot of board games) and they immediately said they didn't like it because it was too much like Risk. I didn't think so, first of all it doesn't take half a lifetime to get through one game haha. You have cities that you treat like your home base, you have to defend that while also attacking others. You can teleport, there's other monsters or creatures you can control in your army that gives you additional abilities. It's a fun game and my family changed their opinion after we played it a couple times.

Excellent Strategy Game
The rules are a bit hard to learn / teach at first, but it flows very nicely (little downtime between plays) after that. There is a good tutorial video on youtube, for anyone who gets the game and wants to learn.Overall it's a very fun game. It has great elements of war, area control, and worker placement that are blended really well. It is not the kind of war game in which you can turtle, either. There's going to be a lot of battles frequently, which helps it to not run on too long. Things get very intense towards the end. Overall, great experience.Board and pieces are all beautiful and well-made. Has quite a few gorgeous miniatures.

Tattico a tutto tondo
A volte pura rissa, altre strategie elaborate. Assolutamente consigliato.

Fun in the Egyptian Sun.
This game and it's mechanics have been discussed and rated by far more qualified reviewers than myself. What I would say is, follow the advise in the rules about "Not Holding Back." It's the most important thing with this game.Often people have a tendency to turtle up when playing these type of games. If you do that with this, it will be boring. If everyone throws caution to the wind and goes for the throat from the start, it will be a blast. You might be looking at this for the first time and thinking. "No, I'll wait until I get my hands on one of the monsters before I send any troops against anyone." WRONG! Send your troops out while you are saving up for a monster. If your troops get beaten, so what! You will just get them back later to use again when you have managed to get your hands on a giant snake or whatever. The constantly changing player order and the superb combat system which uses a deck of cards is what really stood out for me.Very recommended.
