SEO Made Simple (Third Edition): Strategies for Dominating the World's Largest Search Engine

SEO Made Simple (2nd Edition) is one of those books that looks a little underwhelming when it first arrives. It's small, there aren't more than a hundred-odd pages, and there's not much for graphics amidst it's clean layout. In other words, it looks more like a self-help book by an unknown author, and not like a giant text book filled with case-studies and tables with graphs explaining trends, etc. And that's why it rocks. Fleischner spells things out as simply as possible, and gives you a clear list of things you can do RIGHT NOW to help improve your website's search engine ranking (mainly on Google, but it'll ultimately affect all search engines). And by "your site," I mean any website, whether it's a personal blog, a corporate informational website, a phone call lead-generating website, or a big-time eCommerce shopping site. It explains why you need to do what is presented, gives you tons of clear and effective advice on how to do it, and even gives you a few tools to check up on your competitors. SEO is not something that happens over night, but it is something that you can literally start working on after only a couple pages with this book. Follow it step-by-step, and you'll see results in short order. I've used it for my company's existing websites and saw almost immediate improvement. We're not at #1 yet, but we went from Page 10 of Google's search results (horrible!) to Page 2 in a matter of days! That's pretty unbelievable. Getting to #1 is no longer a struggle; it's a simple list of things to do each month, and we're already well on our way.

SEO Made Simple is full of a great amount of valuable information, especially if you have never done any type of SEO before. You may have heard of some of what Michael Fleischner talks about but never fully understood what people meant, or how to do it. You can now relax because Michael puts everything in terms you can easily understand and implement. Ok, that was the good, now for the bad point of this Kindle version of the book. I cannot speak for the printed version as I have not seen it; but the Kindle version is filled with printing error. These are not grammatical error but formatting issues. You will be reading along and all of a sudden you will come across a sentence that is half there or out of context. Sometimes I was able to figure it out and other I just gave up. The only other thing that I didn't care for (and this is just one of the things I personally don't like in any book) is the constant pitch to visit his website where there are a group of affiliate links to product he's promoting. I have nothing against anyone promoting affiliate links or telling you to visit their website, but I prefer to see it maybe in the beginning, once or twice during the middle and then at the end. There are far more than that. Because of these two very minor negative points that I mentioned I have to give it a four star rating. If you are new to SEO or don't understand it fully then this is the book for you. You will learn a great deal about SEO and how to use it to your advantage.

In this book, Michael covered every single area of SEO and gave me more information than I could have ever asked for. I was asked to read this book because I've been working on development and SEO for a number of websites. I've read a number of other SEO books before, or parts of them, but this one I got through in two days. I just couldn't put it down, because every single page seemed to have new information I didn't know before. At first I thought It would be just like any other book, filled with the basics that I knew and anyone can read about. "Put keywords in the title tag, header tags, and use them in the text, and that's how you optimize a page." Of course there was some of that, because it's fundamental on-page optimization. I was half expecting it to stop there, but thankfully I was very wrong. Actually, I was really hoping for something specific from this book and I got it. I wanted answers based on somebody's real-world experience and that's exactly what Michael shares. I've heard a million different things about keyword research and the optimal number of monthly searches and competition. FINALLY someone put me at ease and gave me a reasonable answer. It makes sense, and so does everything else. This book, of course, is about what to do, but more impressive is the fact that it's about HOW to do it and WHY you're doing each of those things. Even better, it talks about why you shouldn't do certain things. The best example I can give is the plan near the end of the book. Instead of saying 'don't submit all of your links at the same time", we get a solid plan with 10 steps we should do every months. Real numbers. 1 article, 25 directory submissions, 20 blog posts, etc. These are real attainable numbers that have been tested. Now I don't need to Google my brains out trying to figure out whether I can post 1 link a day or 10. It's easy to divide them if you just follow the plan. I look forward to putting all of these techniques into practice. This guy knows what he's talking about and the book's title couldn't be more accurate. It truly is SEO Made Simple.

If you are just starting a new blog or website or have had one for some time and are stumped by what you need to focus on to improve your traffic and rankings, SEO made Simple provides you with all of the tools that you need and resources that you may or may not decide to use (including free and paid ones). Some may argue that the mere link to paid tools on the author's website means that this book was written to drive affiliate sales, but that is not the case if you pay attention to each chapter and realize that you have options. From SEO on page optimization to off page optimization techniques, SEO made Simple breaks down the critical success factors that you need to start improving your SEO today. It is a concise and full of resources to help you determine where to start and how to move forward, including effective keyword search, backlinking strategies and so much more. This book is worth every penny for anyone who needs to understand SEO, even if they are going to outsource everything.

Hi Guys, I have bought several hundreds of products from Amazon including books and till date i have never ever written a single review about a product. I can tell you 1 thing from my opinion, Never have i come aross a book, so simple, and interesting on a particular subject that has compelled me to put in effort and my time to write a review. I feel Michael (The Author) like a good teacher has put in his heart and soul to expalin this subject of SEO. I have read couple of OTHER books on SEO and the authors have scared the hell out of me. I feel in this book the author has put in every effort to keep things simple and not kept any secret about SEO building activity. I have had my website built by a professional company but as far as SEO was concerend, I want not confident and sure if i could give the reigns of SEO building to a professional company simply because they would do it more mechanically rather than understanding the goal of each website owner. Well, you may ask what other goal i may have other than being #1 on Google? the answer is, my goal is exactly the same as everyone else, but an outside company if they miss the goal it would not hurt them as much as it would hurt me. With this book now I'm well educated to do things on my own, set my daily/weekly/monthly/yearly task/goal. more so even if i decide to hire a professional to do, i can speak to them in the language they would understand and work hand in hand with them to accomplish my goal. This book was straightforward enough to understand as a beginner, yet detailed enough that I have a road map of what to do to improve my website's SEO. I started with the foundational SEO, on-page optimization tips and already have some improvement. If you're looking for a crash course into SEO, this is a great resource!

I have both the print and Kindle edition of the 3rd edition of this book so when I saw there was a new update released I jumped on it. There have been a number of changes with Google this past year. Hummingbird, yes. But the Keyword Planning tool got a make-over and I thought there must be a number of other changes that an expert like this author would be able to share. I also like the way the author steps you through the important things to know, and do, to be successful. If you have not read a prior edition you should find this book’s advice helpful; I generally feel the content is a 4 or even 5. However, if you have read prior editions I can’t recommend this book. The most glaring omission was not including something that tells us prior readers what changed in the past year. This alone is worth $2.99 but I was forced to skim through the book looking for references to changes that may have occurred. It was a waste of time and I didn't learn anything. It is also a step backwards in terms of functionality. The table of contents is not linked! The 3rd edition had a linked table of contents but not this edition. This is a must-have feature for a how-to, non-fiction book. The book is defective without it in my opinion. Two other nits that I also noticed in the 3rd edition were carried over to this one. The author continues to reference the “link at the bottom of the page.” Since there are no pages in eBooks, we eBook readers need to buy the print book to figure out what the link is. Finally, a foreword is written by someone other than the author, yet this foreword is written by the author. What about calling it a Preface? It really is good information if you are new to SEO. It just needs a bit more care in the design department.

SEO Made Simple provides a solid introduction to SEO concepts and practices for SEO novices. The two main sections cover "on-page optimization" and "off-page optimization" with many good examples of ways to improve. The closing section provides a concrete example of a regular schedule of activities that Fleischner has used to boost and maintain search rankings. I already knew HTML and web application development, but was new to SEO techniques, so this comprehensive introductory book taught me a lot quickly. The descriptions and examples in the book target a non-technical audience, but Fleischner provides just enough "intro web" material to keep a non-technical reader from getting lost, and I was able to easily skim those parts and focus on the SEO content. I particularly liked the chapter on keyword research, which I hadn't fully appreciated before. I also liked the specificity of the advice in this book. Fleischner gives specific recommendations like "put at least X keywords here, but not more than Y" or "don't repeat Z more than N times on the page". This gives his advice a lot of immediate practical value. He provides pointers to useful online resources for many of the suggested techniques. In response to criticism that a lot of the ideas in the book can be found online, I say that I found it very helpful to have the information in one easy-to-read place (that I could also read off-line). Fleischner's book saved me hours of hunting around for good material myself and presented it in a logical, well-structured way. Saving my time like that was easily worth the $8.95 Kindle price.

It gave me a very structured view of what I need to do to get my website to rank in search engines. No fluff just what needs to be done.

Having read a variety of SEO books to help build up my knowledge of the subject, I felt this was by far the best one. Yes on some levels it was basic but full of hidden gems, it gives you so much help for finding sources of information, shortcuts, and hints. It was written extremely well in my mind, following a logical format that took you step by step through the stages that are important in making SEO work for your website. Nothing seemed too complicated, whereas in other books they made it sound particularly difficult and in some cases I felt I was never going to get my head around it. But at the end of this book I could quite confidently say - I GET ALL OF IT. You don't need any other books you can make a difference in your website rankings just following the advice written here.
