Very good why the naff name change
You may have trouble buying a Hitachi power tool now as the name has changed to something that sounds more like a Hoki-koki. I don’t know why as Hitachi tools have a well deserved good name. I bought this as a Hitachi but it arrived branded Hokiwhatever. Its the same drill. Extremely smooth action, good speed control and a very solid locking keyless chuck. If i have any criticism at all it would be that i find it easier to get smaller bits clamped off centre in the chuck than in previous drills when spinning it up, and i haven’t quite got used to the locking ring yet and keep trying to reverse-spin it open which it won’t if you’ve locked it. But that’s not a fault it’s me being an old dog trying to learn new tricks.I’ve given it the benefit of the doubt with the durability * rating as it’s a bit premature to rate durability yet only having had it a couple of months but the casing plastic feels good quality, the switches and trigger are positive, the weight is a nice balance. The forward handle is nice and long meaning you can keep your hand out of the line of sight easily but you might have to remove it for narrow access work before you would with some other brands.
