Great SNES and SFC console in almost every way
This thing is amazing. I use it with my 8bitdo controller and reciever and an anker tablet stand. It is very nice being able to change from 16:9 to 4:3... depending on the game different aspects work well. I also used my game genie and it works great. I thought it would be too heavy with the game genie to play handheld, but it really isnt.My only gripe is the d-pad has some flaws in direction movement. For most games this isnt a big deal, but in games like super bomberman, it is a big deal. Super bomberman needs a controller to play on this, the d-pad isn't good enough. One product idea would be to build in a kickstand so i can play with a controller and not need my own tablet holder. The brightness control does not go very dim, it has like 4 steps, all of them about the same. But is isnt a big deal... just a little bright on a plane. The headphone jack on mine is very very tight. Almost hard to get the headphones out, and i have a good grip. Still very nit picky.SNES games fit snug, SFC games have some play much like using them in a US SNES. Again, doesn't change how it works. I did have the SFC Street fighter ii turbo freeze up on me once. Weird... but it didnt do it again. Some people who have used it with larger hands say the buttons are too close together. I think it is fine and dont notice.Start button is in a weird spot to hit when you are in a hurry to pause.System boots fast and buttons respond quickly... no lag.In all, this is absolutely one of my favorite retro gaming accessories. Ever. I need to order a retroport so i can play nes games on it.

Potentially amazing device hindered by its super low price.
Overall I really like the Supaboy SFC. It feels like a device that could have come out around the time of the Sega Nomad and TurboExpress. It's big and bulky - yet solid feeling - and it plays everything I've thrown at it, including American games, Japanese games, and the SD2SNES. This isn't a software emulator, so the input response time feels snappy and the audio is 99% on point. The weakest part of the Supaboy is its picture quality (internal and external) - it's obviously composite video. The colors are drab and the image is fairly soft. The built-in screen is also fairly low quality, with the viewing angle being somewhat poor and the backlighting resulting in an overall gray look to what should be black. If you keep the brightness set around medium and hold the screen at just the right angle though, it's acceptable.Hyperkin should offer a more premium device, with better video output (both internal and external), as well as a better quality screen. As it is though, the Supaboy SFC is worth owning if you really want a portable SNES and don't want to spend much money. Just lower your expectations of the video quality.

Great device but wait until quality control get's beyond the launch rush stage.
I've used every previous revision of the SupaBoy and always found the units to work well within their own limitation. I also own a number of other Hyperkin products and have always been happy with them.So when I heard the SupaBoy SFC was coming out and that it improved on the S model by adding an aspect ratio switch I jumped at pre-ordering a unit day one. The unit arrived and everything looked fine. I charged the unit up which took about 3 hours and then it came to start playing games. I inserted my Super GameBoy 2 as it was the closest at hand. Turning the system on I got a black screen with NTSC in the top corner but no game, I'm a big collector and keep my games clean and had just been using the Super GameBoy on my 20+ year old SNES without problems. So to make sure I cleaned the carts again and even checked it on my SNES again where it worked fine. Again putting it on to the SupaBoy the game wouldn't work. I had a look and noticed that a pin in the middle of the connector on the SupaBoy was bent out of position and pushed down into the bottom of the connector meaning that the reason for the game not loading was the bent pin.Amazon shipped me another unit which turned up very quickly. I then charged the replacement unit checked the cart slot for any bent pins (nothing wrong there) inserted my Super GameBoy 2 and turned the new unit on. All this unit gave me was a blue screen and that was all. No region identification in the top, no audio all it would do is swap the aspect ratio of the blue screen.I know the SupaBoy SFC will be just as good as the previous models, in fact it's almost identical to the S model, but two faulty units in a row shows that there has been some rush in production. Give Hyperkin a little time to slow production and restore their normal level of QC.

Erases saves.
Great system and wonderful idea. Although last 2 erased my game saves. Very sad it means I can’t play a lot of games out of fear of losing saves.

Well in hand for playing games pal ntsc jap.The quality there is much less like light scratches on the screen and a few dead pixels. I do not understand that hyperkin does not check that is the second that I've ordered. Because the first was even worse dead pixels and and a crack in the screen.

Great product development progress on this third edition
Product itself is outstanding, the third edition of the supaboy is well made. I like the display size and the option to change ratio. Unfortunately I received this article dead on arrival but amazon customer service fixed all trouble. In the end it's still a great retro Item I would recommend to all SNES/Super Famicon Fans.

Dope or Nope? DEFINITELY DOPE!
First of all, yes! This things too legit to quit hey hey hey. Not even gonna lie, it's lit! Feels dope af and plays games like no other. Sound quality could be better but just absorb the fact that you're slaying SNES games Oscar Mike. If I were to rate this dope or nope, it's DEFINITELY a DOPE!!!! Meow
