France released, PAL/Region 2 DVD: LANGUAGES: French ( Dolby Digital 2.0 ), French ( Dolby Digital 5.1 ), English ( Subtitles ), WIDESCREEN (1.78:1), SPECIAL FEATURES: Interactive Menu, Scene Access, Trailer(s), SYNOPSIS: Focuses on the people who live in north France, making fun of the region's unflattering stereotypes to reveal the warmth of the people. A post office manager in Provence is punished when his superiors reassign him north. When he hears that 'north' does not mean Lyons or even Paris, he despairs. Colleagues tell him of a freezing dark place where it rains all year, people live in red-brick terrace houses and dunk Maroilles cheese in their coffee. When he arrives in Bergues, his car collides with Antoine Bailleul, a postman and carillon ringer in the town belfry. He believes that Antoine has a fractured jaw, but it is just his accent. The outsider, of course, finds that the Ch'timi have hearts of gold and are friendly to strangers, unlike Parisians or southerners. The cold, wet, north......
Now look - you have to like French comedy films. This is a film about a man who is moved by his firm from the south of France to the North where it is very cold, rainy, and "they talk funny". At least 50% of this film is about the accent difference. Even if you don't speak French you can hear the pronunciation clearly. I thought it would drive me mad for about 10 minutes, and then I could see the joke. Danny Boone (who is French, despite his name, directs and stars in this, as he openhearted employee who wants to welcome his new boss but finds him rather po-faced. Left behind in the south is the rather glamorous wife, who feels so sorry for her husband..... and decides to visit for the weekend. A wonderful French farce on every level, and a rather nice story about heart and friendship.

V pleasant
It's a v pleasant film. But some of the reviews are way over the top.Several times we laughed out loud, but not the shaking belly experience some would have you believe.I can Imagine that in France it would carry more weight because of their cultural views bout the north. It's a gentle and jolly romp with predictable outcome.6/10 for me

Wonderful insight into Northern France
This film is a classic all about perceptions within France about Northern France from people in the South. At first when a southern post master is posted as a punishment to the north all his misconceptions seem vindicated. However the locals take him to their heart and the scenes where he goes home and pretends everything is awful are well done. Of course he is found out when his wife decides to join him but look out for the section where they take her to an old mining village where everything is run down and broken.

Excellent French Humour
I'm a regular visitor to France and a couple of years ago this film and made a big impact there. What I saw was the bi-product marketting of "Ch'ti" everywhere: beer, t shirts, even a dictionary. (Ch'ti is a dialect of the north west of France and Belgium - Belgium recognises it as a language.)Having seen Dany Boon in the marvellous Micmacs I looked around for the DVD.Its a simple plot - basically someone from the south is sent to work in the north and initially finds the culture and particularly the language totally foreign. (A Londoner in Newcastle.)I wont give any more away except this a very funny film, well acted and a family comedy. But it is very much in the French style, which I love, but perhaps isnt for every foreigner. Hopefully the equally brilliant The Artist will broaden our view. One warning: no matter how good your French: use the subtitles else "Ch'ti" will be lost on you.Oh and yes "Ch'ti" is pronounced as it looks!

Disc does not play
This disc would not play - it was tried in 3 different Blu-Ray players. I purchased this disc to replace another that I purchased in 2015 and it played without problem the first time but then we I tried to play it again several years later it would not play. The seller (Momox) treated me unfairly (in my opinion) because they insisted that I return the item to the UK (I live in Portugal) but that meant that they did not refund shipping costs. I asked if I could return to the Netherlands (which was the postmark on the label) or Germany but they refused.

Funny, charming and heart warming
A lovely heart warming film with genuinely funny moments and some hilarious characters. BlueRay not exactly necessary (this isn’t a high end blockbuster that benefits from super clear visuals!) but some nice extra feature anyway.

Tienes que verla. Hazme caso

Nice Comedy – Light and Fun Family Movie
A really enjoyable comedy — don’t overthink it, just sit back and have a good time. Some of the dialogue is in regional dialect (like Ch’ti), so it might be a bit hard to follow for some viewers, but overall it’s easy to enjoy.I also had the chance to watch the Italian version, which is very similar and just as funny. Both versions are great for a relaxed family evening with plenty of laughs.Pros:✔️ Lighthearted and funny✔️ Great for families✔️ Regional humor adds charmCons:❌ Some lines in patois might be hard to understand without subtitles
