Decent little light!
This little 30 watt Hygger light grows corals better than my high end lights. Great value for a budget nano reef! Super easy to install, but is not meant for a rimmed tank. Not the brightest, nor does it have any bells and whistles but you can choose from 3 light settings and it does have 3 modes for a timer. The fan does kick on every so often but it's not overly noisy and keeps the unit cool. With that being said, it does have all the necessities, compact in size and will grow softies and low light LPS just fine.

Great Simple Light!!
If youโve read any of my other reviews, you know Iโm a Hygger fan. I am particularly happy with this light. For my little 10g desktop tank this was the answer I was looking for. Very, very simple to operate. Not a lot of fancy programming (like for my big tanks) and best of all, an anemone that was stressed out and hiding at the back of the tank, came out within two days and is now open and getting back its color! This was exactly what I needed!

New light, works well for certain uses, uncertain of long-term durability and melting/fire risk
So far so good. About 10 months in. Have 2 used to supplement other lights. The fan needs to be cleaned regularly, if it should get clogged or stop, then this would easily overheat and likely melt as another recent review shows. Be aware, the mounting bracket to the aquarium is metal with metal screw.. If you like cracked glass... I removed it, took pliers and a vice grip to unscrew the neck from the bracket. I use a 3d printed hose hanger clip. Though many are commercially available. Using PETG as it's flexible and less prone to cracking and UV degradation. Though if it did crack I'd make sure that the light can't fall into the water. As far as quality, no disco effect and shimmer is excellent. One could light a 3 ft fish only aquarium with ease. For coral growth. You'd need to place this no more than 6-10in. above to see any real growth. To get the rated watts, you'd need all the lights on, not just blues. The fan goes all the time, it's a bit loud on high. It's like a small hair dryer, lots of heat. Since this was a supplemental light for a pico with Fluval Nano 3, it seems to work. Though for a new Pico I would recommend the Fluval Nano 3 or 4 Reef lights, they have excellent spectrum, app is easy Bluetooth with 5 color channels, reliability, and no need for a fan. Been on almost 3 years at full blast. While rated only 20w. I would say they have more brightness than the Hygger 30 watt, and more LEDs by far. Growing some easy SPS in a 3g. I just needed better coverage for new corals on the front of the rock. I have the Hygger reach over the front of the Fluval light. Not super pretty. I do this in a grow out tank as well. So overall, this is not going to be your only reef light unless it's a 1-3g system or you're going fish only. For supplementation it's great because of the bendy neck. Just keep it clean and be aware if the fan stops, this thing is going to melt due to no real heatsink and uncertain if has overheat shutoff. Should be more transparent about those risks and not bury the reviews. Maybe Hygger can answer to this.

Best pico light on budget!
If you are unsure about this light for a pico saltwater tank just buy it! we currently have 2 of these lights, one on a 2.5 gallon Pico, and 1 on a 5.5 gallon Pico. PAR readings are super fantastic and easy to work with coral growth is beautiful. I easily hit three to five hundred par on my 2.5 with light about five inches from water. Light is 6 inches from water on 5.5 and gives reading from 300 down to 75-50. Timer works nice these readings are at full brightness with white and blue.

Reliable secondary light
Hygger hasnโt failed yet. I have a 6โ tank with a 4โ light that left light lacking on the sides. I attached them to the vented canopy and they are really secure. They work well putting off 140 par over hammers and torches. The remote is a set and forget plug and play. And they have a sleek look. Would recommend for nano, pico, and/or sumps.

Fan seized and smoked. Unit not safe, overheats
The light itself gives off a great selection of lighting intensities for both day and night. But there is a serious flaw that the company has not addressed with me at all. Chiefly after a very short period of time the unit started to smoke on high settings. The cooling fan seized. I am a high school teacher and have a small representative reef tank near my students. The plastic insulation burning smell was so intense. I am afraid to use this light for fire hazard and school fire code.

Great little light for my nano-reef
Great for my nano 20 gallon reef. Has good brightness settings with a built in timer on the wire so no need for a remote. My corals have thrived just fine with this light and I'm very happy with it for the value.

Good for the price
Works great for my little 15 gallon! Good options for light colors and doesn't get to hot. Was sturdy and easy to use, great value.

Works well for my application
Update after a few months - i reduced rating to 1 star because: 1. it requires a manual re-start each time i am on vacation and there is a power failure or if i try using a timer, each time it stops needs to manually press the button. This is not usable for my reef tank refugium 2. The fan corrodes in saltwater environment and is already useless after a few months. The fan stopped and started smelling burnt, i kickstarted it temporarily and hope it works until i receive a new refugium light that is made for this purpose. 3. The light frequency is not well tuned for growing macroalgae at a fast enough pace to properly export nutrients in my sps reef tank Using it in my reef sump for macroalgae and some bubble tips.

Cool Light
This is a cool little light and for what it is works pretty well. It certainly won't grow much but as a light it works great
