Perfect for my needs
I originally bought this product to use over a planted milked plant in my butterfly garden. I cut an "X" at the bottom and placed over one of my planted milkweed plants, as seen in the first 2 images. I found it difficult to water the plant this way and once I had my first butterfly, I decided to stitch the opening i made closed (very easily) and put a potted milkweed inside instead (as seen in the third image to the far right side of the photo. Much easier to care for this way with the potted plant sitting inside. The netted cage collapses easily for storage and is very light. Next time I will buy the next size up.

A fun safehouse for butterflies !
All along we thought lizards were eating our baby butterflies. Nope, it wasn’t lizards, but wasps who were stinging and flying off the caterpillars. This habitat protects the critters safely until they climb to make chrysalises to evolve into butterflies. Easy, cheap and simple!

Great price and lots of room.
This was perfect. Put in caterpillars and they immediately went to top and formed the chrysalis. Plastic bottom should be easy to clean . can't wait for butterflies!

Well made for a great price! I keep my habitat sheltered from wind and rain. I especially appreciate the clear view panel, excellent ventilation and large access door.

Not for early stages of raising Monarchs
We have been raising Monarchs for over 6 years. It's been a passion project for our family since my little one was gifted eggs to raise when she was 3. As you can imagine, the need to purchase supplies, add supplies and replenish after many years of use, we feel like we have a good handle of what works and doesn't work for what we found to be most helpful when we raise monarchs. We’ve purchased over a dozen of these cages over the years and have been really happy with the RESTCLOUD cages. With a little TLC every day, they stay really clean. This year, we currently have over 200 monarchs in various stages of their life cycle. We wanted to purchase another cage to house the really baby caterpillars that just emerged from their eggs (so a day or two old). Knowing that we love the RESTCLOUD cages, we found what we thought was what we had been using all these years on Amazon. When we received, we immediately noticed that the green base was missing and it was just a mesh bottom. We thought they changed their design but a quick search on Amazon, we realized there are different versions. We thought maybe the new mesh might be good to have but since we immediate release our butterflies, this cage would not work for us. The green bottoms really helps control the mess that comes with raising them and the mesh just would not contain the mess that our cats make on a daily basis. We went back and forth with whether or not we wanted to keep the butterflies longer after they emerge from Chrysalis but my dear child reminded me her goal was to help populate the Monarchs so keeping them is not keeping with her mission. So, unfortunately, we had to return this and order exactly what we needed. The one with the green bottom. So, if you are on the fence with which model to order, the mesh bottom seems to be great if you wish to keep the butterflies in captivity and the the green fabric bottoms is a better choice if you are raising cats from egg to chrysalis. I hope you choose the later. Regardless, thank you for caring enough to help the monarchs.

Cannot be used for leaves with eggs or first and second instar caterpillars.
Not happy with this habitat. Stitching around zipper created holes large enough for first and possibly second instar caterpillars to crawl through. I have to use this habitat tomorrow to transport monarch butterflies to a homeschool lesson so unable to return. I only transport the butterflies once a year for instructional purposes, but actually purchased this to use for enclosing butterfly eggs on leaves before transferring to larger habitats. I will not be able to use this for intended purpose and now I have to order something else to contain over 25 leaves with eggs to prevent the lizards from eating them! Not happy at all!
