I was ready to return the unit (or toss it because it was full of gas now), then I read the other 2 reviews.How could it receive 5 stars and 1 star in the 2 reviews? It was ready for another 1 star until I figured it out. You see the instructions are in Chinese and I am sorry the only word I know in Mandarin is "yes".The unit comes with the brass soldering tip that is mostly screwed into the upper burner unit. First decide which tip you want to use based upon your application, then fully tighten that tip to the upper burner assembly. Next fully tighten the black plastic threaded COLLAR found at the bottom of the upper burner assembly fully against the lower burner assembly. Next fill the gas reservoir with butane. Stand your butane fill canister on a table vertically and then press the bottom of the unit firmly into the filling stem of the butane canister. The unit does not automatically ignite as advertised, so have a lighter or mini torch handy to ignite the unit. MOST IMPORTANT: push the rim located at the top of the COLLAR fully away from the handle (you are setting the venturi) to extend it to its furthest position and turn the flame control to the - position. Turn the unit on with the Red Switch fully pressed towards the tip. Ignite the unit through the four large holes located in the upper burner assembly (just above the collar) and adjust the collar so that no flame comes out of the holes after ignition.

The unit does not self ignite at all. Can be ignighted with a lighter but the soldering tip must be removed. So if you turn it off after use you will need pliers or something as its very hot and would burn you. I will spend a little more on one that is what it should be.
