Yes it could, which this model has an added HEPA filter which would work great for fine wood dust.Since there would be so much dust we would recommend cleaning often, an air compressor works great for blowing out the filters, but it would work great in a shop.Thanks, AtleeGreat Vacs

Bagless. Just a noe: don't use it until you take out the extra parts stored inside the canister. Lol. Guilty. I love this vacuum. Right now it's not even mounted on the wall and it's working perfectly. Except I had to left the top half off the canister to check how full it was getting. That's when I found the extra accessories.

Q: What is the peak horse power rating?

Hp is a bad way of measuring suction/power for a vacuum, so we don't use Hp as a unit of measurement for any vacuum we sell CFM will be the best way to measure suction in our opinion, which the CFM for this model will be 162.
