Casual Jacket With Excellent Wind Resistance, Attachable Hood, and More
This is a very nice jacket, though a bit gaudy with the NASA Logos and more. But since I wanted to be an astronaut ever since I saw John Glenn lift off to space in America’s first manned orbital flight, I’m not complaining! (yes, that fact does date me!) So, when I saw this jacket, I ordered it right away, and I’m glad I did. The jacket is really a spring and fall jacket, though you could certainly use it as a winter jacket if you were just driving from one place to another in the car. It is made of a wind-proof closely woven fabric (polyester) and has a nice slippery lining to it that makes it easy to put on or off over sweater or not. The outer fabric and the inner lining are all the insulation the jacket provides, but it seems essentially wind-proof, so that will do for most spring and fall weathers. I ordered the version with the optional hood, a soft sweatshirt type fabric that has button holes that match the buttons of the collar of the jacket. I like that feature. You don’t always need a hood, but when you do, it’s nice to have one available. Conversely, when you don’t want one it’s nice to have the ability to remove it. There are two pockets for your hands at about elbow level with one inner pocket, one zippered pocket on the left arm (with a small pouch pocket sewn on it. The zippers are metal, which is a very good thing as they won’t break as easily as plastic ones. I’ve been out and about today in this jacket, and though it’s warm (50 degrees F) it’s windy. I felt totally comfortable in the jacket. There are two strange things about this jacket. The first is the large fabric patch on the inside back of the jacket (see picture). I have no idea why they include a power rating on the patch. It made we wonder if it was perhaps a heated jacket and I just missed that (I have a heated vest – Wonderful!). Alas, it’s not a heated jacket! The second item is more serious (to me, though not to my wife). The zipper pull is on the left side instead of the normal right side. My wife suggests that I can get used to that because she has gotten used to the opposite, many times. I’m sure she’s right! I ordered the X-Large size (I’m 5’9” and 220 lb). It is almost too small. I suspect though that the X-XL would be way too big. Most of my weight seems to be concentrated in my belly area, which coincidentally is where the jacket is tightest! I almost gave this a four-star rating because of the zipper, but decided that wasn’t important enough to downgrade the jacket. You decide if it is, or not.

Very misleading. Terrible buy!
Very thin and cheaply made jacket. Like avery thin windbreaker. Hood does not attach, is more like bonnet. Some patches are sewed on others are velcro.
