Works but is hard work!
We purchased this to remove artex in the kitchen, which covered the best part of three of the walls. The product does work, but that doesn't mean it makes the task easy. We quickly regretted taking on the task, but are pleased when we managed to complete it.After leaving the product on for 24 hours we found it was still quite difficult to scrape off the artex. After 48 hours it was a bit easier. We generously applied to the walls and waited whilst it soaked in. It's quite a strong smell, so best if you can keep windows open as much as possible.Covering the floor is a must - covered in the gel, the artex comes off in a sticky mess and it's a lot easier to tidy up if you first lay paper down, however be prepared to get your feet stuck to the paper if you accidently tread in it!Maybe due to our lack of skill, we found we made lots of little divots in the wall and once we finally completed the removal we had to skim them to make good.A sharp scraper with spare blades really helps with the task.It took us about three evenings worth of work to get the small room completed. If I had to do it again I'd hire someone to tackle the job as there was a lot of mess and the task resulted in profanities and tears at times , however the product itself does warn that it's a difficult task.In summary, the product does as it advertises to do, but be prepared for hard work, mess and a bit of a stink!

Awful
Tried using this to remove artex. It turned the paint rock hard so couldn't even get the scraper to work. Ended up using a steamer to soften the artex, which then turned to glue. Nightmare to remove so resorted to another product supposedly suitable for removing artex which, also wasn't as good as described. Don't waste your money, use a steamer, so much cheaper.

It works
There are a few reviews of this that say it doesn't work. I can only assume that these reviewers either didn't leave the product on for long enough - should be left for at least 3 hours before attempting to remove - or the artex they were attacking had a coat of paint over it. It is true that removing the "gel" afterwards was an effort but my guess is that it was no more so than using a steamer. There are no instructions about how to clean the brush after use but water and washing up liquid seemed to do the trick for me.One small issue. The product description here says "Non-toxic" but the label says "Harmful if inhaled". For an amateur like me it is not helpful to know that there is a difference between harmful and toxic, which apparently there is... all I can say is that this goo is not particularly volatile (or if it is then it completely odourless) and so I haven't keeled over and died.Yet.

Rubbish
Item is absolutely rubbish, doesn't remove artex. Even leaving it 24 hrs before trying to remove.

Saves time and physical effort
This is only a small tub but it has been very effective on the small area I wanted it for. I applied with a paintbrush, left it for a couple of hours and found that scrapping off the artex was so much easier. It is still a very messy job but this saves a great deal of time and effort

It is actually an amazing product but 'Oh Boy' the fumes are a tad ...
Oh WoW this stuff is a beauty!I have spent weeks trying to remove our hallway artex, 2 layers (why oh why did the previous owners decide to artex over artex?) Anyway, Durostrip certainly does the job.I will however give buyers a warning... On the side of the tub it states: 'Harmful if Inhaled' It should read: 'Harmful if inhaled from 100 feet away whilst wearing a full toxic body suit (FBI styley) Police presence, to make sure the street is empty of and straying neighbours as they should be moved to a safe haven - local church with overnight provisions. I think you get the idea! Please make sure you have your windows open, face mask, safety glasses and make sure you cover the floor. It is actually an amazing product but 'Oh Boy' the fumes are a tad on the high scale.

Avoid. Waste of money! Doesn’t do as advertised
I bought 1 tub of this stuff, which is a very small tub I might add and wouldn’t have any chance of covering a wall.I was hoping to remove some artex from a small ceiling area.1 tub on, waited a few hours and started to scrape the artex was still hard and now the ceiling was covered in a sticky, messy, gluey gloop.I scrapped most of the top layer of artex off and the tub instructions says if artex hasnt been removed (sadly yes), then I would need to buy more.So I did, this time left the second lot on my ceiling overnight and the next morning after more difficult scrapping, the artex is still on my ceiling.Waste of time and money. Avoid. I have now washed off the ineffective gloop and I’m buying a sander and mask.I would love a refund.
