Do you believe in magic? Ionie and her friends do! And when they meet the Star Animals, a whole world of adventure unfolds. Westcombe is hosting a scarecrow competition and the Star Friends are all excited to be taking part. But then almost everybody in the village suddenly becomes extremely sleepy, refusing to leave their homes or even get out of bed. The girls and their Star Animals know that it must be down to dark magic, but how can they help to stop it when theyโre being affected too? Perfect for fans of MY SECRET UNICORN and THE RESCUE PRINCESSES, and for RAINBOW MAGIC readers looking to move on to a more challenging adventure. Review: Magical friendships and a love of mystery solving with their animal friends - ๐ฑI really love the illustrations and they really bond with the storyline perfectly. The โStar Friendsโ are a small group of girl friends who over time have discovered their magical powers, and together they keep their animals they (think โspirit animalsโ) are linked with safe and vice versa. Their adventures are to thwart the plans of the evil โShadesโ who want to cause mischief with their dark magic whether in the human world or not. In this new story, strange things start happening in Westcombe village when family and friends start to become very sleepy, like they might have been put under a spell. The friends have to use teamwork, trust and their imagination to look at all the clues and suspects in order to work out how to get to the bottom of the mystery! The girls often chat via messenger or video-call each other to keep in touch, and there is a multi-ethnicity representative cast of characters, which gives the book a very up-to-date feel. Fans of any light-hearted fantasy series involving witches, unicorns, or mermaids will enjoy this - Linda Chapman is also the author of the popular โMermaid Academyโ and โMy Secret Unicornโ series. The spooky final scenes with scarecrows coming to life having been enchanted by the Shades might be a little much for a sensitive younger reader who is below the recommended reading age (e.g. 5 or 6 years old). Review: Linda Chapmans Books Are Unbeatable - I currently own 2 whole collections of Linda Chapmans books and Iโm happy to say they never disappoint. I read them almost everyday and they are full of adventure, friendships and building up their magic. I recommend the star friends collection to anyone who likes adventure and problem solving! 8 year old approved!!
My 8 year old daughter loves this series so much!! She reads through them quickly, but loves to reread when she's gone through them all. She says they have really great characters and it keeps her interest. She's looking forward to the new ones coming out this year!

Another great read from Linda Chapman!
The cover art is beautiful and the story is great! This picks up the story from the last book and as always, my little one asks for one more chapter because the suspense is too much! This author does not disappoint with any Star Friends series book!
