Foundations of Pettus Family Genealogy in Virginia: Using Colonial Law to Solve “Brick Wall” Problems Hardcover – May 1, 2022

In this well written, well researched and very persuasive book, the author considers, tests, and ultimately rejects some of his (and mine) possible ancestors. It is fascinating to watch him narrow down all the possible candidates, one by one, until he comes to an inevitable conclusion. The reader can SEE why the conclusion is the only possible one. Not only that, but the cherry on top of the sundae is that the author’s own dna verifies his answers. I wish every one of my family lines had a descendant like William Pettus!

This is an awesome book that not only provides new information regarding the Pettus family’s ancestral lines, but provides great insight into the in-depth theory and thinking of William W. Pettus IV.As an owner of the author’s incredible, two-volume book on the genealogy of the Pettus family of England and Virginia and a novice genealogist, I have often thought - “I’d love to understand the author’s processes and research methods.” This book provides a glimpse of his thought process and further questions for future/ongoing research.It is very interesting and thought provoking. I recommend it for anyone working on their own family tree project!! & it is definitely a MUST READ for anyone researching the Pettus family in America.
