Good toy with a few flaws
This is a really exciting toy that I got for my kid's 9th birthday. I should have realized it says 200+ pieces right there on the box. It was a little too difficult to assemble for my son. You have to be patient and know how to follow those kinds of instructions that have pictures and no words. Some 8-9 year-olds could handle it, I'm sure, if they like to build things. There are some pieces that have 4 different sizes of the same piece, and you have to look closely (with good lighting) to see the imprinted number or else you're going to put in the wrong piece. There were several places where I assembled it a bit incorrectly and had to go back and try to change out a piece. That was not easy! After getting the whole thing put together, it only sort-of worked. The gears are too loose. They slip past each other and constantly need to be pushed back in place. There is a moving part in a key area that makes it not run smoothly. I was able to mostly fix it by lubricating with a bit with wax and moving the gears to a new position (so the motor is closer to the elevator screw) but it's still not great. There's another place where the marbles will fall off the track about half the time, and I fixed that with a piece of tape. I was glad to see that there are a few spare parts, and in general all of the pieces are uniform and multi-purpose, so you can free-form build like Legos, or find a new way to arrange things if you want. So overall, it can be fun but it's not without it's hassles. Now I have to find a place to store it! Ha!

Not an easy assembly
This isn't easy to put together, but I got it working. I was missing 1 piece and had to MacGyver the marble run in order to get it working - the part was an 11. Its fun to watch and works like you think it should. The instructions are as detailed as they need to be.

Not Well Designed
Hard to assemble. Parts didn't stay once the had them together (flimsy). Gear train didn't track well, middle gear was skipping. Play time was very short (shorter than the assembly time...)

Didn't work seamlessly
This took me 2 hours to assemble, and two of the places where the marbles should have kept moving on their own needed me to push them along, no matter what I did. I got this for my disabled son who loves watching marble runs but doesn't have the understanding of having to reload the marbles. This was such a let down.

5 stars
5 stars!! I gave this product 2 stars on assembly because it wasn’t easy, but that’s what we wanted. A building set that would actually challenge our child

Overall OK, but some issues that seem like they'd have been easy to fix.
Got this for my godson's birthday. Some of the components have broken in less than 2 months of less than careful handling (like what most any boy that age would subject a toy to) and other parts seem to not really fit together like it seems they should. Some of the "stunt" portions apparently don't quite line up in ways that make their function inconsistent. He seems to like it despite its flaws, but as a mechanical engineer myself, the minor changes to the design and material selection seem fairly easy to spot, which makes me think they should have been caught by the designer/manufacturer.
