Very thorough and well written. It brings the 3000 years to life. Only wish they could have included more artwork.

Beautiful illustrations - a perfect intro to Chinese painting.

The text is informative and well put together, however the images are not very good and some are of reproductions, which for me is a big issue as I buy art books as image references.

Good book.

This is my most referenced book on Chinese painting. It is well written, informative and well presented. There is an excellent reference list in the back that gives you the various names that Chinese artists used (in both Western and Chinese text), the Dynasty they worked in. This book is really useful for anyone with a serious interest in Chinese Painting.
