Much better than using a hammer and chisel.
I don’t know how the reviewers are given this product 5 stars, I can only guess that those reviews must be bogus. As recommend by the instructions, I purchased the required 30mm guide bush and the 12mm router bit, and this will not cut a slot accurate enough. Each slot is slightly smaller than the hinge, and that’s for both the 75 and 100mm hinges. As a result, I still have to remove a couple of mills from each slot. I don’t know wether the issue is the guide size is slightly too small or the router bit is too small. In any case, the majority of the slot is cleanly cut, so a couple of taps with a chisel is all you need to clean things up.Update: Actually, I have to eat humble pie and give this product 5 stars! The problem that I was experiencing was due to the fact that I was using a trend router base and guide on an old B&Q router, and as such it was slightly off centre. Once I got hold of the correct Trend base, it now cuts 3 inch hinges perfectly, as can be seen from the photo. The only thing that is slightly different from the enclosed instructions, is that they (Trend) suggest drawing a 9mm line around the hinge to line the template up with. However, i have found that that is too large as its then hidden under the template. From trial and error, I have found the the distance is more like 5 mm. In any case, once you have found the sweet spot and are setup, you dont need to make any more adjustments to either the template or the router, and its then a breeze. After two days I was able to hang 5 doors with another 5 to go.

WELL MADE JIG. YOU HAVE TO MAKE A BATTEN ...
WELL MADE JIG . YOU HAVE TO MAKE A BATTEN FOR A GUIDE THAT YOU FIX TO THE JIG BEFORE USING .THE METAL TEMPLATES ARE HELD IN PLACE WITH MAGNETS ON THE PERSPEX HOLDER , WHICH WORK WELL.TAKE A LITTLE TIME SETTING IT UP AND THEN UP AND RUNNING.

Better off doing it the old fashioned way
I always have used Trend tools but I have noticed the quality is starting to slip not only with this product but there router bits too.The jig is very sturdy in terms of the thickness of acrylic used but I’m afraid that’s it.The magnets are weak, the finish on the metal template is poor and contains rough edges which is not good for the guide to follow. The guide lines are obscured by the metal template (9mm as stated in the instructions) and when you tighten down the two screws the jig moves due to irregular slot being cut on the left side.I recommend that you avoid this if you ever want to get the hinges fitted. I will go back to using the good old hammer and chisel.
