I've tried pretty much all the ultra-fast 35mm lenses on my Fuji system. Most of them have been quite good, especially when stopped down to f/2.8 or f/4, but my copy of Brightin Star 50mm/0.95 is a cut above the rest. Even wide open, performance is surprising, showing good center sharpness. There's a slight contrast reduction and a bit of haloing at f/0.95, always to be expected with an ultra-fast lens, but it is still quite useable, and actually offers a very pleasing, vintage look to photos. By f/2, it's very sharp in the center, with sharpness falling off towards the edges of the frame. Out of focus areas are nicely rendered with smooth transitions, and the bokeh is lovely. Solid 5 stars for both performance and value. If I could, I'd give it a sixth star because it has a click-stop aperture ring, which I very much appreciate.

Totally Surprised! This manual focus lens will take you places you never imagined. Cost is incredibly inexpensive. A special quality when shot wide open. Not exactly soft, more like stunningly mellow. Well built. Rather small but contains everything you need.

Fun lens. I like to pretend that it's some zaney leica glass. The focus ring moves past infinity; I'd give it five stars otherwise.

amazing. can you believe this was only 60 bucks? my usual Fuji lens is too heavy, and tbh i felt like I didn’t really need an expensive lens unless I were taking pictures of people or making top quality videos. I just want a simple, light lens that I can use daily to record my fave moments. this lens is perfect! it has a slight vignette which is probably more obvious because of my filter settings but it honestly I don’t mind. it’s super light, and I like how the focus is manual so I don’t have to tweak my settings or mess up my camera. anyways this lens is great!

I was just looking for a silver-colored 35mm to pair with my X-M5 and maybe play around with bokeh. I was completely unprepared to fall in love. First of all, the lens is an absolute joy to operate. The clicked aperture ring and damped focus ring in particular feel great to use. Everything about it feels sturdy and well-built. When I shoot with it, my middle finger naturally rests on the focus ring, and my index finger rests on the aperture ring. My thumb sits just between the two. That makes it super easy to adjust focus and aperture, very quickly, without having to look or move my hands. It took maybe twenty seconds to build the muscle memory. I included a shot of a train reflected in the window of a bank building. That happened behind me, as I was shooting something completely unrelated. That particular frame was the third frame in a 5fps burst. That corresponds to 0.6 seconds between me noticing the shot and capturing it in focus. Being in the f4-f8 range helped too. People say it's stupid to buy an f0.95 lens and shoot at f8 but I think they're out of their minds. A lens is a tool. If you like the rendering at f8, and it suits the scene, shoot at f8. And I really do like the rendering of this lens. There is a subtle barrel distortion in it, which I have come to like in my lenses. I also love cat's eye bokeh with a radial tilt. For a lens I expected to return after a couple of days, I'm stunned at how versatile it really is. If you own the TTArtisan 35mm f1.4 or the f0.95, this lens probably won't do much for you that you can't already do. I love the rendering of that lens too. Maybe a bit more than the Brightin Star. But it doesn't make my camera look like a coherent object, it doesn't fit my hand as well, and it's less enjoyable to manipulate in general. Same with the various wide primes from 7Artisan, and the 25mm primes from TTArtisan. If I could go back in time and tell myself to forget about those and go straight to the Brightin Star 35mm f0.95, I would. In fact, I might even tell myself not to get the Fuji XF 50mm f2. The shots I get on this lens can easily be cropped to 75mm equivalent.

Nice lens for use once in a while. Much less expensive than used Leica glass. Even about 1/4 to 1/3 of Voightlander glass. Use this on my X Pro 2 and like close up shots wide open and most further away shots stepped dow to F8 or F11.

Well welcome to the Brightin Star 35 mm f 0.95 It’s only been a few days with this lens (and this camera) and I can adamantly say I know I won’t grow tired of using it. There is a skill curve with this manual focus if you’re looking to take images quickly, or your subject is at a large distance and you want to be at the most open aperture of .95. But to me, I’ve been viewing that as an epic challenge, it’s caused me to think differently and really go out and practice often. I was looking for a camera and lens that I would feel excited by, I researched through the other affordable f .95 lenses and landed here for the clickable aperture, the sharpness you can achieve when you get it right, and it’s travel size. I feel like a kid again, taking my camera out at every single thing that excites me. As a professional photographer, being able to play often is also training grounds for improving when I have to deliver on shoots the next time. I probably wouldn’t use this lens for event photography or anything that requires a fast pace. But definitely portraiture and studio work. But I really enjoy feeling like I’m not limited by a film camera but can still attain that timeless feel whenever I want to pull this dude out. My new best friend.

Great value for the money. Very good bokeh and lets in a ton of light into the lens. Happy with the purchase. Produces a very shallow depth of field and seems to be very well built. Optics are clear and nice . Really a must add for any collection
