Supportive, Comfortable, and Waterproof
I rely heavily on Amazon product reviews, so I was little hesitant to purchase these for $150 with no reviews. I am always on the hunt for a good solid shoe and I think most people would agree that it's next to impossible to find anything decent for under $100 these days. Upon further research on the company's website, I found that these are a new model for Topo, so I decided to take the plunge and purchase them without any reviews. I'm happy to leave the first Amazon review to help others in their purchasing decision. I currently have several pairs of Altra Provisions and was looking for a waterproof version of that shoe. Altra does not make a waterproof Provision and so I tried both their Lone Peak and Olympus GTX, which ARE waterproof but neither of these shoes worked for me. Upon first receiving the Topo Terraventure 4 WP, I found that they are made extremely well. I tried them on and OMG, comfort right out of the box!!! They feel way more supportive than the Altra's in that, they feel like they are hugging your foot. The area around your ankle feels like a collar - not restrictive in any way - but feels like it supports your foot from going from side to side. I also like the way the shoe feels underfoot. You can feel the entire sole making contact with the ground below, which gives an extremely supportive and steady feeling. I like a zero drop shoe, which the Altra's have and these are only 3mm drop, so I cannot really notice the difference between the two in that aspect. The toe box is very roomy like the Altra's as well. I cannot speak to running or hiking in them but with the support that they offer, I imagine they would be perfect for both. I use them for walking and for me, they are a very comfortable shoe for daily use too. They are definitely waterproof and great for inclement weather. I am a solid Size 7 but like the Altra's, these seem to run a 1/2 size small, so a 7 1/2 fit me perfectly. I like them so much that I just purchased the non-waterproof version of the Terraventure 4, which are great too! My only suggestion would be to offer these in more colors to choose from instead of just grey.

High quality, except for waterproofing!
I do daily fast hikes, about 3-4 miles, on mostly unpaved urban park trails. I was SO excited to again have a pair of waterproof hikers! Unfortunately, the right shoe leaked enough that my sock was wet (not soaked) when I finished my trek. I'm attempting to exchange for a new pair, and hope the waterproofing is just not low-performing overall. My left foot was totally dry. These are my 2nd pair of Topos, after having been an Altra enthusiast for 4 pairs of Lone Peak and 1 Timp. I switched because the Altra treads wore out in less than a year and prices kept climbing, while features were reduced! I much prefer Topo's vibram soles and more supportive, less spongy feel. It holds my foot more firmly, too; feels more secure with lateral movements and clambering over rocks and roots. My first pair was non-waterproof Topo Pursuit. Tread is definitely worn, but still serviceable for street walks (whereas Altras are worn past flat in key areas). Terraventure seems to be cut a bit slimmer in the toebox, which is a plus imo, still plenty of room for toe spread, but more agile on the trails. I'm prone to plantar fascitis, and it nearly disappeared after I started wearing the zero drop shoes. The Topo Pursuit is zero, and I don't really notice a difference with the Terraventure's 3mm drop. The only thing missing for me is a heel pull-on loop, but I still would enthusiastically give it 5 stars, but 4 now for the faulty waterproofing. I wear size 8M, have a slim foot with slightly narrow heel and these fit perfectly, no heel slippage and the collar does not cut into my ankle bones. I like this minimalist, go-with-everything dark grey color.

So incredibly comfortable
As soon as I put these shoes on I knew they were perfect for me. I haven’t felt this level of comfort from a shoe in such a long time. I tried these on after a long day when my feet were already hurting and immediately my feet hurt LESS when I put them on. Fits like a glove. Has a solid base, so not extremely lightweight but not bulky either. I was looking for something lightweight and waterproof, which can be a tall order. I’m excited to break these in (if they even need breaking in). In case it helps to know more about my feet and typical shoes: I wear a size 9 in running/hiking shoes. I have a neutral walk and run (no pronation or supination). I live in EVO Birkenstocks when it’s warm and muckboots when it’s cold. I use merino wool socks with a decent amount of padding.

Poorly constructed and not durable
These shoes were great for the first month. They were waterproof and were great for walking the dogs on the wet grass along the greenbelt. That was short lived, however. After just months of only walking in them on the greenbelt, they started getting rips in the sides and are starting to come apart near the soles. These were a waste of money for me. I don’t walk on rugged trails or jog in them, so it’s not as if I caused the issues. They’re just very poorly constructed. I will never buy this brand again and will shop more reliable brands for about half the price.

Great supportive rugged shoes for hiking and having fun!
These shoes were recommended by a friend who was also having foot issues. I usually wear a size 9 in women’s tennis shoes and ordered a 10 based on friend’s recommendation, and they fit great. I included a picture to illustrate where my toe is compared to the edge of the shoe. I do not like my toe anywhere near the edge, but I think this illustrates the fit. These do have a wide toe box which is great. I used them on a 2 mile hike with inexpensive orthotics in them and didn’t have any pain from my plantar fasciitis, so I was very, very happy! These also seem to be somewhat water resistant. My friend said they should be waterproof but anything with laces I imagine, water will get through at some point. I did walk in a river just a bit but not too far in, and my socks never got wet. So far I really love these shoes and actually just purchased the dark teal ones. It would be nice though if manufacturer would address the fit so people will know the proper size to buy. These also have great tread, so perfect for hiking. Looking forward to using them on our Costa Rica trip as we like to do a lot of hiking. Hopefully these shoes will prevent the plantar fasciitis from rearing its ugly head. 🤞

Not Waterproof
Comfortable, fit well BUT: 1. Not Waterproof, just hot. 2. I haven't worn them much even though purchased over a year ago and the fabric inside the heel is torn on both shoes.

Best Topo shoes!!!!
These are the best shoes for wide feet and a lot of walking! I bought them for waterproof shoes. I thought I might need other shoes too, but these were the only ones I wore for two weeks in Ireland! And we walked all over Ireland. The beaches, cliffs, cobblestone streets, castles, and pubs. So dress up and down in these great shoes They were so comfortable and they still look great.

Incredible support for an outdoor festival
I broke my toe three weeks before a music festival held in the redwoods by a river - so lots of river rocks and uneven paths. I was so nervous about re-injuring my toe but I wore these shoes and it did not even feel like I had broken my toe at all. I was able to dance and walk 40k steps in a day with no issues! Held my toe in place and had no pain and didn’t have to limp along the entire weekend. I cannot say enough wonderful things about these shoes!!!

Too Shallow for high arches or Inserts
I love Topos. Be warned that this shoe, while still having a wide toe box is more shallow than a trail runner which resulted in blisters on the top of my toes and places I have never gotten blisters. Unfortunately you don’t realize these things until you have worn the shoe and cannot return them. I had to remove the insert completely and then they fit. So probably not a shoe for you if you have a high arch or have therapeutic inserts. I now use them for wet days and light walking . They are a nice shoe, just not for me. All of my shoes are Topos.
