MATLAB: An Introduction with Applications Review: Very Useful, Very fast learning if previous programming exp. - If you have previous programming experience this is a guarantee good buy. Being already use to programming language helps you pick this up very quickly. There are somethings that are different as far as formatting goes, but a lot of the concepts are the same as far as an introductory programming course goes. If you have never taken an introductory programming course for C++ , java, etc. then this might be a little rough picking up. You get the most out of this with previous experience because you do not have to read this cover to cover to get how to program. Just look at the index in the back for keywords your looking for and you can quickly get a hold of what you are trying to do. Review: Very clear and concise introduction to MATLAB - This text was used in my intro programming course for science and engineering majors. Although the course only went through about half of the text, I continued working through exercises within the book with only minor guidance from outside. The end of chapter problems are well thought out and contain many useful skills which apply to other programming languages. I would highly suggest this book to anyone new to programming or interested in learning MATLAB. The instructions are clear and concise, plus the examples are often filled with lots of interesting code that will aid you in your problem solving. An included CD, or website, with the examples and other sample programs would have been helpful, but would not detract enough to warrant 4 stars.

I'm happy
I needed this book for a college class. The local bookstore charged $80. I got mine used for about $32 here. It's slightly water damaged but in general it's in really good shape. The book itself is a well written technical book; it's not fun, but it is useful. My only complaint is that I think the chapters are in the wrong order. Some of the content should be in different place relative to the other content.

Fantastic book with great examples and Explanations
This is a book that I bought for my college class, and it is great. everything is well organized and easy to understand. It has examples that show how the code actually shows up in Matlab, and the practice problems have a great variety from easy to difficult. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to use Matlab.

Pretty basic, but still useful to keep
I used to own this book, but sold it since I did not think I would need it. Now I needed it again and decided to buy a used copy. This book is not different than the one I had before except that the cover is a little more worn out, but this is not a big deal. This is a pretty basic book on MATLAB, though it is still handy to have it if you find yourself not using MATLAB extensively (This is my situation which resulted in me forgetting even some basic functions of the software). However, you might need to find another book if you want to learn more complex function of MATLAB.

Easy to follow
This book is easy to read, and will teach you the basics of programming and using MatLAB. Whenever my professor left out details or some things didn't make much sense, reading about it in the book always helped.

NOT "COMPATIBLE" WITH WINDOWS 8!!!
Seriously?!?!? Not compatible with windows 8?!?!? What a worthless pile of dung. There is a Windows 8 app, but this POS arbitrarily "isn't compatible" with it. What a joke....

Over priced
This book was rushed and it's terrible. Throughout the semester of my engineering class at Ohio State, I just searched online what I needed to know. This book was awful! It's not completely useless, so it gets 2 stars, but way over priced.
