Dimplex OFRC15N 1.5 KW Oil Free Radiator Heater with Thermostat

Bought this heater for a cold hallway & for the heat to travel upstairs to the landing. Small, slimline & attractive (for an oil heater!) , it’s light & portable & throws out a lot of heat. We also use it in the conservatory. There’s nothing to dislike about it & it’s well worth the money.

This heater really puts out a lot of heat. I really wanted a heater with a timer so I could leave it to come on at night on the cheaper electric and I didn't want to use a plug in timer. I read the reviews on this model carefully and I agree with them. It is hard to set up the timer, but once set it has battery back up so if you unplug the heater for a short while you do not have to reset the timer. You also have to be very careful that the auto mode does not click over to manual and be on permanently. This happens when you move the heater or when you interrupt the electricity supply. However there is a small red light which shows when the heater is using electricity, so you can click the button to change it back to auto quite easily. This is the only reason I have given 4 instead of 5 stars.

I brought this to heat my summer house which is ~ 3 x 3.6 meters and it really does a great job. On the 1kW setting it manages to keep the room at a constant 22C (with outside at ~5c) at a thermostat setting of ~ 3/4 of the dial maximum.I could have it warmer but it would be on more (and cost more); I don't really use the 2Kw setting.It has a frost setting which attempts to keep the room at ~ 5C, it also has a timer so it can be set to come on and off at pre-set times, there are three separate on/off times that you can set and there is a simple on/off button to switch between timer mode and manual mode. The surface of the heater does get too hot to touch for longer than a couple of seconds.All round very good product and would recommend it.

Very good heater, easy installation, and it warms up very quickly and will keep the room warm all night. The auto-on/sleep function also works well, just set the time for when it should come on and off, and it does it accordingly. I would have liked it if there was a more inform-able dial. As right now, I would either just turn the temperature dial all the way up, or all the way down, and just somewhere random in the middle if I feel the temperature is too warm. It would be helpful if more temperatures were available. Otherwise, it gets the job done, if necessary, would probably purchase again, recommended.

Love this radiator. The real plus with this one that there are so many easy ways to control it.The 1kw/2kw switch is something I utilise a lot, since I like to start the day with the heater on the 2kw setting, just to get it warmed up fast, then switch to the 1kw setting when I'm happy with how the room feels.It also comes with a timer. Although I don't use this feature often, I have tried it, and it's easy to configure. If you go on vacation often, then I imagine the timer would come in very handy. There's even a frost protection feature on the thermostat, meaning the heater will keep the room at above 5'C when the thermostat is activated.All in all, this was a great buy. It works great. It looks great. It'll hopefully keep me warm for a long time to come. Highly recommended.3 Year Update: So, the heater died this week. Power light would still come on with plugged in, but no heat production at all. When inspecting the heater, I noticed it had been leaking oil from more than one spot at the bottom. It had just passed the 3 year warranty, so no choice but to throw it away. It seemed like a good heater, however I have to question the build quality, given recent events.

Ordered this rad as we cannot find a replacement permanent radiator for our kitchen due to the size of the existing fittings so a temporary measure. Really does the job !! Heats up quickly and is easy to move around being on castors - great to keep as a back up for the future as a temporary support !! All in all a good buy and good value for money !!

Heats up fast even on economy mode which is great. Heats a large, cold bedroom in no time so very happy in this respect.However, don't like the bright red LED light directly above the LED screen as it makes it almost impossible to see the display text in low light. Also, it would have been useful if the thermostat dial had actual temperature values rather than small raised markers . It can be hit and miss to get it to an ideal temperature setting. Fairly minor gripes and I got it for a good price on deal so 4 stars seems about right.

It's totally new, as amazon said only the package was broken and didn't get the manual which I had to download from Dimplex website. I heated up my small room very well, I didn't feel a need of central heating at all. I give 5 stars, yet I agree it wasn't capable of heating up my big double bedroom, though. That wasn't expected from a 2K Radiator. But that wasn't an issue if it still could make that big room cosy enough to live and work. For 47 pounds you cannot get more power than this. Anyway, my double room is really big, I think I need a 3K Radiator instead. So I returned. They took it for free next day. A new one is one the way.
