This fountain exceeded my expectations, I’m very pleased
Wow, I’m impressed. I’ve used the plastic Petlibro water fountain for quite some time and was pretty pleased with it, but I wanted a stainless steel version to be healthier and help eliminate cat acne for one of my cats. I debated between this one and the full stainless steel fountain from Petlibro, but my cats are picky and I was worried they wouldn’t like the water stream, and it’s just so convenient to see the water level at a glance, so I chose this one. The assembly is so easy, and I absolutely *love* that the pump is cordless, because the cord in the water of the previous one always made me wary. It makes the pump way easier to clean too, as the cord isn’t dragging all over the place. The filter on the pump is a larger, thinner rectangle which will make me more confident that it’s clean when washed, compared to the previous thick square filter. The 4-layer filter goes underneath the spout in the bowl - you just slip your fingers in the water vents on either side and pop it off - I did it without even ruining my nail polish. (Just remove the spout from the cover first or it may go flying) The spout design (which I wasn’t sure the cats would like) is much improved because I can actually clean the whole inside much better - it was a big concern that I couldn’t get to all the grooves of old fountain spout. The water flow is absolutely silent. My cat’s drinking noises are the only thing I can hear when I’m down on the floor next to the bowl. (If I put my ear literally right next to the bowl, I hear the *faintest* hum of the pump inside.) All three cats took to it immediately, even the one who prefers to drink from a dripping faucet like a spoiled prince. I’ve never seen that one drink so throughly from a bowl, even my previous Petlibro fountain, so that’s a huge win for me. They drink from both the bowl and the spout. When lifted off the base, the water flow stops immediately. I have no complaints, and will be getting another one for the laundry room instead of just replacing the pump on my plastic bowl (no manufacture failure there, I ruined it myself by accidentally pouring boiling water into the dish of pump parts instead of the dish with the scrubby brush to disinfect it). Cat and cat minion approved! Note: The hum in the video is my bathroom light/fan, not the fountain.

Not all cat fountains are equal apparently.
I think what I learned buying this fountain a couple months ago is that there is a larger difference between cat fountains and the enjoyment of it in your home than I was prepared for. We have a 7 year old Cornish Rex cat. She has always preferred what we call “human water” as in my water, my husband’s water, really anything but her water. We got her a cat fountain a year ago (not this one) and pretty quickly she started using it. She was asking for human water less, but would still steal our waters from time to time. After 6 months or so, our cat discovered something new… “sink water” and started developing bad habits around demanding water from every sink she could get to. She’d use the cat fountain when we weren’t home, and didn’t totally depend on sink water when we were home…. But it was clear: sink water is best water now. As the fountain i purchased got older it became clear that it was getting gross and dirty faster and faster, hard to clean and the motor was working a little haphazardly. It did not have a battery backup either, so when we’d leave the house for extended periods, I left the house like that girl from Signs with half full glasses of water all over the house in case the power went out. Finally I got sick of the constant cleaning of it, listening to it burgle at night, and decided to try replacing it with something else. Enter PetLibro. I figured the battery backup would be a cool option and was pleased that they offered replacement filters for all their products that weren’t too expensive. Also liked the look well enough, not as cool looking as my last fountain, but the integrated battery and other tech were a big plus. To say that this fountain was an upgrade would be an understatement. It’s easier to clean, the wireless motor is awesome, the tank is quite large and water lasts a long time, and my cat has COMPLETELY STOPPED asking for sink water and human water. The only thing she’s begging for now are treats and a thimble of milk from the fridge which, let’s face it, she was never gonna stop asking for that. She likes the fountain attachment on top as it mimics her love of the sink faucet. The unit is MUUUUUCH quieter than our last fountain, which honestly I thought was quiet but now realize how wrong I was. The battery backup is a nice piece of mind. Things to note that I have learned using this fountain: -You HAVE TO SOAK THE NEW FILTERS for a while, like 10min and rinse them before install. The instructions tell you this, but I tried cutting corners once or twice and the results are super gross musty looking water. Soak and rinse! -getting to the filter can feel like you’re going to break something. There’s no instructions on how to open the compartment, but it’s just a tight press fit that makes you feel like you’re about to snap the hard plastic. Just power through those concerns, it’ll be fine. -the battery only mode doesn’t fun the fountain all the time. It cycles on the water like every x number of minutes per hour. If you like the water constantly moving/filtering you HAVE to plug it in. -water will collect between the container and the battery base. It doesn’t hurt anything, the base is wirelessly powering the motor, but sometimes you can get suction between the base and container when you go to pick it up because it’s sitting in a puddle. TLDR All in all GREAT fountain. Thought it would be like any other but I was wrong, this has absolutely changed my cats behavior for the better. Very happy with my purchase.

Easiest to clean fountain with 1 hiccup**
We have 3 cats. One figured out how to turn on our kitchen island sink when he wants water. We'd honestly be fine with this (well water) but for some reason he believes to turn off the sink, you move the faucet. He has flooded our kitchen several times*. He's lucky he's cute. Needless to say, we've tried several water fountains. We had been using one brand for years. It worked great, but we were not the greatest at cleaning it often. It had a large enough setup that fur and such fell in a lot, so it was sort of an issue, but part our fault. I don't remember how I found this PetLibro fountain, but I was intrigued by the design and decided to try it. Let me say, I love it so much, I bought 3 for around the house. First of all, it has a smaller footprint than our last. It is way, way easier to clean. The base is what is plugged in (though it charges, so can be run for a while not plugged in). To clean then, you just pick up the bowl & walk it over to a sink to clean. This made a huge difference for us. All the cats seem to like it - even the trouble maker who only drank out of the previous fountain if he had to. The filters are easy to change, and do a great job clearing out fur, etc. As I said, we love it. There are two hiccups for us - one being solely our situation. Let me address that first. We also have a shepherd. Our shepherd for some reason decided he needed to drink out of the fountain (he was never interested in the other). The fountains were obviously not designed for 70+ lbs dogs, so we had to fill them several times a day, and the dog spilled water everywhere. Fortunately, PetLibro released a dog fountain that does filter as well, it's just not as easy to clean as it has a traditional corded pump. The other hiccup, which is a product issue, is the motor. The motor needs replaced often - we're talking once every month- 3 months (we're unsure yet as we've just figured this is an issue and haven't tracked it). Now the pumps in these (general) pet fountains don't last. They are like fish tank pumps - you're often lucky to get a year. Though these wireless PetLibro ones seem to have a much shorter lifespan - maybe as they are wireless? For us, at roughly $12 per replacement motor, it is not a deal breaker. The ease of cleaning is so worth it, and you can Subscribe & Save the motor and get them a little cheaper. But it is a hiccup with the fountain. Would I recommend these? 100% Just keep in mind the motor. Oh, and another plus - if your power goes out, since the base charges, it still will run water. It switches to the motion mode where the water runs only when something walks up to it. * if you happen to have a sink turning on cay like us, I will recommend you search for a motion sensing faucet attachment (screw on like a Brita filter) It took our cat a bit to figure it out (even the smart one), but none of them turn on the water, or move the faucet & flood the kitchen. We prefer the one available that recharges and turns off automatically after 2 minutes. I also recommend the dog PetLibro fountain, but will review it when I've had it longer. ** I was cleaning the fountains today and discovered there were 2 small panels to take off the motor that allows me to clean them more thoroughly. From past experience, I'm confident this will solve the motor issue. At the very least, get more life out of them.
