Does anyone know if this birchwood was cut just to make forks? It is listed as "green", but I want to know the source before I purchase some.

I don't know the source, however, these forks are very tiny. If you are wanting to use as dinner forks I would look elsewhere. There are more for picking up "finger foods"

the description says 158 to 250 does the count vary?

It is a 158mm length and there are 250 forks in the package.
