4oz Organic Cold Pressed Jamaican Black Castor Oil for Hair Growth and Damaged, Dry Scalp - Unscented, Hexane-Free

I have been using this since April 2026, along with Shea Moisture Shampoo and separate conditioner, that contains castor oil. I wash my hair daily because I exercise daily. Most days, using the conditioner only. I then apply this oil to my scalp (hair towel dry) and brush away. I then often toss a durag on, or go about my day, sometimes applying a water based wave pomade. In all, I’m satisfied. It gives my hair a healthy glow and my scalp never dries out. The pic is no pomade, just brush session.

Such a great oil, smells good and grows my hair lovely.

I'd like to start. By saying this product has been amazing, the first bottle I used consistently for over a month, with some pretty wonderful results. So I ordered myself this two pack. Now, I don't know if I got a bad batch, or what, but this pack smells awful, it wreaks of cigarettes, straight up smells like they mixed in cigarette ash or something, and it's with both bottles! It's super disappointing, because the first bottle I ordered smelt amazing and worked wonders. But I just had to add copious amounts of peppermint oil, tea tree oil and other essential oils to try and mask the awful stench of cigarettes and it unfortunately barely made a difference. Other than that I love this product, but I can't use these two bottle now, because not only do I despise cigarettes with a passion and their scent even more. I work as a Vet Assistant for an Oncoloy Center. So there's no way I can go to work, smelling like this.

I had developed a pretty bad habit of pulling out my beard hairs when they got long enough to grab, which was seriously not helped by the fact that they would pretty much just pop right out with almost no force. Even when I did manage to force myself not to pick at my face, eventually I'd start feeling random sharp itchy pains that would make me yank out hairs in that spot. The result being that my chin was left very scraggly, patchy, and bald basically all the time (so disclaimer, my problem was not that my beard stopped growing, it was that I couldn't keep it consistently on my face). I heard of this stuff from random a internet comment and decided to give it a shot. I would describe it as a thick and sticky oil with notable scent of molasses to it (I really like its smell) and when applied feels like thd kind of surface you would expect hair to be (I imagine it would normally feel kind of gross, but on a place you expect hair to be it feels fantastic). It has been about a month and a half and it has helped overwhemingly with restoring my beard back to the thickness and length it used to have and dramatically reduced the degree of my pulling it out. To a certain extent, I'd say it was just swapping one habit with another as I will just go to slather this stuff on my face when I start to get too face grabby or my face starts to feel dry. However, the hairs actually feel much more firmly planted and I can feel expected pain when they get yanked out now. It was not uncommon for me to end up pulling out like 50+ hairs a day before this, but now I'm estimating I lose <10 a week to pulling. Only negative I have is that the first bottle I orderd came with a cracked lid, so some of the oil was a bit spilled on arrival; not gonna take stars off for that though since results have been so positive. Probably one of the best purchases I've ever made; I'm thinking about buying this by the gallon going forward if I can.

I have naturally light blonde 3A/3B very curly fine hair. I generously apply this directly to my scalp using the dropper and basically spend half an hour to an hour massaging it in with my fingers. It smells terrible to me, and I typically like earthy/strong smells. It smells like ash and cigarette smoke. It's also surprisingly viscous and thick (and as far as I can tell, all JBCO is like this). I could never leave it on my scalp for more than 8-10 hours overnight lest I look like I haven't showered in years. I believe this is a fairly universal experience for people with fine hair using JBCO, but so far it seems to be worth it. I leave it on my scalp overnight alongside Olaplex (two times a week) and wash it off in the morning. My scalp is no longer over-producing oils and feels more conditioned and soft to the touch. I've noticed that on the days after I use JBCO, the curls in my hair are INCREDIBLE. My hair is shiny and bouncy. No oil residue or anything of the sort gets left over either and the smell quickly dissipates after washing it out. I feel like in terms of overall scalp conditioning and nourishing, the benefits of this outweigh the unpleasantries of using it, and I'd wager that scalp health contributes greatly to hair growth!

Let me first say that i am a big fan of oils, and months back i decided to try JBCO. I ordered this oil and absolutely loved it! It was dark and rich, the smell was nice burnt nuts. When on the skin it was great for hydration and for my scalp, having long dreadlocks. Now to the bad part. I ordered this product again, being very happy the first time. I just received it in the mail, and immediately noticed the cap on the bottle was different. The new bottle had a white cap, while the old one had a black cap. I thought maybe it was just a packaging difference, but upon opening i realized that wasn't the case. The new oil is awful. I can usually handle different smells, especially with oils, but this was nothing short of disgusting. It smelled like burnt cigarettes, but even more potent. I then poured the oil out to check the color and consistency. The new oil came out easily, much thinner of an oil, and the color was a pale yellow. Totally different oil than the first one. I'm not sure if this is a defect, or if their oil changed so much in just a few months. I returned it immediately. i'm going to try and order again, hopefully i receive the first one i fell in love with, and not this awful knock off.

I’ve been using this castor oil for a year. I’m just finishing up my second bottle, so a little bit truly goes a long way. I had noticed last summer that my hair seemed to be thinning. After perms in my 20s and 30s, and coloring in my 40s and 50s I wasn’t surprised. I’m pretty much totally white now so the scalp shows through a little bit better. I did some research and decided to give this a try. I didn’t see any difference after finishing the first bottle but I went ahead and got the second one. Last month I still wasn’t sure, but I ordered a third one which is waiting in the wings. However, I just had my hair cut today. My stylist asked if I had gone longer between appointments this time, and I said I didn’t think so, but I had also noticed that my hair was feeling really shaggy. I usually get my hair cut every five weeks because it’s short, and I thought perhaps I’d gone six weeks for some reason. But after she was finished I checked and my last appointment had been five weeks ago. I mentioned to her that I was using the castor oil and she said that’s why; it is working and it’s making your hair grow faster. So it definitely does what it says it does. It just takes some time. I use it 2 to 3 times a week and will continue to do so. It’s going to actually cost me some money in the long run because now I have to get my hair cut every four weeks, but well worth it!

I'm a 35 year old woman, who's hair started falling out alarmingly a few years ago. Every time I would brush it, or touch it, clumps of strands would just come out. Honestly I thought I'd be bald by now because of it. I started taking biotin since that's what was the top recommended thing for hair loss that wasn't prescription.....and found out I'm highly allergic to it. As a last prayer and hope I ordered this, and I wish I had found it sooner. Instead of clumps of hair, it's like 6 strands now everytime I brush it. I can touch my hair now and it doesn't fall out. My partline is starting to fill in a little. This stuff is basically magic. It doesn't smell good or bad really, it's pretty mild, but it is definitely oil that just stays on your head. It takes days to absorb, but honestly I'd rather have a oily head than a balding one. The dropper they give you is pretty worthless too. It doesn't suck up alot of oil, and it drips everywhere, so pull it out over your head or be prepared for some spillage. It's not a big enough hassle for it to be a major complaint tho. I definitely highly recommend this stuff, and I'm so very thankful that I found it!

I only used it twice so can’t say much about hair growth benefits but my hair feels really good after using it, it feels voluminous and soft and has a nice subtle shine to it. Definitely will keep using it and hopefully it helps the hair grow as well.

Das Öl ist ganz gut. Allerdings leider in einer billigen Plastikflasche abgefüllt. Daher von mir keine Kaufempfehlung. Ein hochwertiges Öl gehört sich in eine dunkle Glasflasche. Für die Grösse zu teuer.

I used it on my face, came out in eczema patches. Using it on my scalp for alopecia areata, time will tell

Excelente producto para el crecimiento del cabello, para el crecimiento de la barba, de fácil aplicación, tiene un olor nada desagradable, una consistencia viscosa pero de fácil manejo, me lo aplico todos los días a como lo aconseja el manual y me ha resultado muy bien, ya voy por mi segundo frasco y pensando en comprar más.

I have very little hair, and it's VERY fine. All my life, every time I run my hand through my hair, no matter how many consecutive times, it would come out with at least five hairs between my fingers (even though I have very straight hair, with no knots). It's a wonder I wasn't already bold. So I finally decided to do something about it, and I bought this oil and vitamin E, plus argan and jojoba oils to disolve this one (I read in the reviews it's difficult to manipulate if you don't mix it a bit). I have to tell you, I am very skeptical when it comes to a product's performance, even if I see some small changes. I have no excuse with this one. I can't stop running my fingers through my hair (I probably should, though), because if I catch any hairs in my hand at all, they are maybe two hairs every ten times. Those were immediate results. It stopped my hair from falling. I don't have to clean the hair stopper in the drain EVERY TIME I take a shower. I'm still waiting to see more or longer hair (I've been using this oil four times a week before going to sleep for three months now), but maybe it's there and I don't see it. Anyway, from what I read, people start seeing results in that area after about three months of every day use, so I guess it's fair to wait a little longer. Also, because I'm an impatient mess, I decided to try it on my eyelashes when I bought it, because I figured it would be easier to see some results there than on my head. So I have applied it on my lashes every night before sleep. Now I have fabulous lashes, they are very noticeably longer, and my hair doesn't fall off. Couldn't be happier.
