Is the non-stick safe for caged birds in another room and does the air fryer emit a plasticky smell when heated up?

I didn’t have any smells coming from my air fryer when I first used it, I cleaned it first and haven’t had any problems with plasticky smells. I’ve found it really useful and I’m happy with my purchase. Steam does come from the back of the fryer which is normal & will set off the smoke alarm if the room isn’t ventilated, so I don’t know if that would affect your birds in another room. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.

Pizza accessories, the booklet says use the mesh from the basket as a cover for the pizza. Why do you need to use a cover to cook a pizza?

Hi there, thanks for your question. It depends a bit on the toppings you use on your pizza, if you'll need to cover it with the mesh or not. In case of using toppings with a high fat content, these oils can splash up on to the heating element, resulting in extra smoke. Hope this clears things up. Cheers, Max

Is it easy to clean the mesh basket?

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. If you clean the Airfryer after every use, it should be pretty easy to clean. The following tips should help with that:

You can clean the pan and basket of your Philips Airfryer with hot water, washing-up liquid and a soft sponge. Please keep the following points in mind while cleaning the pan and basket of your Philips Airfryer:

1. Let your Airfryer cool down for approximately 30 minutes before you clean it
2. The pan and basket of your Airfryer have a non-stick coating. Do not use metal kitchen utensils or abrasive cleaning materials to clean them, as this may damage the non-stick coating.
3. If food residues are stuck to the bottom of the pan, fill the pan with hot water and detergent and leave it to soak for 5-10 minutes. Soaking will loosen the residues and make them easier to remove from the pan. Make sure you use a cleaning liquid that can remove fat.
