Highly Sensitive Geiger Counter on a Budget!
This is a fantastic Geiger counter for the cost. It appears to be way more sensitive (by distance from a known radioactive source -see photos) than I would have expected from the price point -especially if you get it while on-sale. The battery life is fantastic, lasting several days on a single charge. The graphics are easy to follow but unfortunately are predefined, not allowing the user to customize the appearance of the graph apart from the time points. The “click” sound is accurate, and reflects each radiation count without maxing-out into a continuous beep. The color-coded danger bar is a nice touch that changes based on current detection levels. When in the “green” zone, the light at the top of the unit blinks green with each count. When in the Yellow zone, it alarms (if you have it set to do so at that level, which is adjustable and user defined) and the light blinks yellow. When in the red zone the unit vibrates, beeps loudly, and the light blinks red. The unit can measure the expected units “CPM, uSv/h, mR/h, and CPS”. I’ve included photos showing the awesome sensitivity of this unit at progressively closer distances to a Geiger Test Card (known radiation source). The first photo shows background levels (which fluctuates up and down, naturally). The next photo shows a distance of 30 inches from the test source -it picks up the card at the distance, which had be incredibly impressed. Next I show the unit at 20 inches, 10”, 5”, and 1” where I hold the card up to show it’s presence. The next two photos show the Geiger Counter directly placed on top of the test card, as the bare-unit and then while in the case (which drops the detection count significantly, unfortunately). The last photo shows my radiation source. I am beyond impressed. The test card has a maximum detection lever reported as being between 1000-4000 CPM, and this unit captured an impressive 3200 CPM. I highly recommend this product. It is from Seattle, WA which was also a selling point for me -being a home grown company. Enjoy!

Fascinating as a toy besides its more practical uses
A very affordable and well made item with a large, colorful display that is easy to read and with pages and pages of different displays allowing you to customize what you want to see and how you want to see it. This is a "smart" device that can link to your PC and through the cable, the battery is kept charged for two or three days of field surveys. More if you turn it off between uses. I bought this just for the fun of detecting uranium in the Chinle and Morrison geologic formations of the Colorado Plateau and seeing for myself that genuine dinosaur bones and petrified wood from those formations can be quite radioactive. As mentioned, I bought this just for fun and not for any practical, safety or economic reasons. Unfortunately I have not had an opportunity to use the device for its intended purpose, but I have confirmed that the unit is functioning well. It sure would be nice to have a counter that displayed actual EVs of the radiation so that I could tell just what radioactive elements are present, but they cost more and for me, it just for a whim more than anything else. When visiting dinosaur museums, I'll turn off all alarms and sounds so as not to panic the public if a bone proves to be a bit "spicy" and I recommend others do so too.

Love it.
Great product. I love playing around with this thing. Testing all our dishes, rocks, antiques, you name it...I've tested it. Easy to use and learn. Menu is simple. Lightweight and compact design. Removable and rechargeable battery is awesome. From what I can tell seems to be pretty accurate. Nice case to add durability with a belt loop to add some versatility. The only negative i noticed so far is the sensor is on the side rather that the front, but this is indicated on the back of the device.

Great Unit With Lots of Uses
Well made and performs equally well. If you have use of such a unit, this is a good one for a decent price.

Works well and easy to use
I bought this after my cat was treated with radioactive iodine for a thyroid tumor. The cat had to stay at the vet clinic for 3 days before her radioactivity level was low enough to come home but even then she had to be kept isolated for 2 weeks without me spending more than 10 minutes a couple of times a day within 6 feet of her. I also had to put her litter waste into a bucket for disposal for those 2 weeks. This device came in really handy as it allowed me to see exactly what radiation level the cat was giving off and see how it dropped off the farther away from her I got. This allowed me to feel more comfortable spending more time in the room with her during the second week. It was surprising to see how much the radioactivity level climbed when I put the device right next to her neck/thyroid area vs further down her body or when she was even a few inches away from the device. This also provided a way to check the radioactivity level of the waste buckets before putting them in the trash. The one from the first week was kept isolated for an additional week to allow more time for the radiation level to reduce before disposing of it. It was good to check the area of the room the cat likes to sleep in and see that there was no residual level of radiation showing when the cat was finally let out of the room. I was still reading some lower levels of radiation from the cat when I put the device right by her neck/thyroid area. I liked the ability to switch between the different measurement units on this device and the ability to silence the noise level while still seeing a clear LED display of green/yellow/red blink at the top as it detected radiation levels. The specific measurements were easy to read on the screen. I used this device for 20 to 90 minutes a day for the first couple of weeks of owning it and the battery level is still over 80% on the original charge.

No clicking geiger counter noises
I seem to have a defective unit. It does not make geiger counter clicking noises. I have reset it, turned clicking off and on several times. The speaker is set at max and works well nice and clearly and once the alarm went off because the readiation got too high. I am handicapped and walk with a walker. I bought this so I could hear the geiger counter clicks and know when the readings rise. I have to walk holding the unit and stare at it to know the readings and that is hard on my arm and neck. The unit makes a single click when the reading changes but unless I look at it, I have no idea if it is rising or lessening. I have contacted support 3 times via email but not heard back yet. I will update after I get an answer from support. I do recommend this. It probably works fine for most. I think my unit is defective. I like all the features except that the geiger counter clicking noises don't work.

Excellent battery life!
Great device, I see no problem wearing this thing long term, it is light weight and the battery life is excellent! Gives tremendous peace of mind, and that is worth the money.

Works well!
Received quickly and works well. I can't vouch for accuracy as I don't have anything to compare it to, but I put it close to my smoke detector (they all contain Americium) and it did pick up the radiation. Very easy to use, highly recommended!
