Roseanne: The Complete Series

This is a Dutch product and all writing on the packaging is in Dutch. Menus are also in Dutch but it is easy to turn of the Dutch subtitles. The episodes are all in English so once the subtitles have been turned off it's plain sailing. There are all 9 series in this set and I'd forgotten just how good this programme was. Series 1 is where they 'find their feet' and the interaction between Roseanne, Dan and their kids is pretty much pure one-liners - and very funny.However, as the series progresses you begin to see something which was a first in US comedy series as far as I can tell- the family begin to experience the real problems that many normal 'blue-collar' families face. Kids wanting birth control, businesses struggling to stay afloat, arguments about missing curfews, dislike of daughter's boyfriends, bullying bosses, businesses going bust, kids moving out of the family home.....and still there are plenty of laughs and superb put-downs.This series was a true trailblazer and represented a watershed moment on US TV.... showing not all families got along. It is a real pleasure to watch again and at the price I paid - £44.95 - for around 150 episodes it represents fantastic value for money.One final point - picture 'sharpness' is not superb and some episodes have moments where the picture 'jumps' around a little - it only lasts for a minute but sometimes it feels as though you are watching a video transfer to DVD. Nothing to worry much about, though, and certainly doesn't spoil your enjoyment of this great series.Damn...as I write this i see the price is down to £39.95! Get it whilst you can!

This box set like others on sale came with the packaging written in Dutch. I wanted an English Version but there doesn't seem to be any on the market at the moment. I was reluctant to open the sealed box set in case the DVDs were in Dutch. I contacted the seller who assured me that they were just subtitled in Dutch but apart from that the whole box set was English. He was correct! Once the subtitles are turned off these DVDs are all English. They are so funny. I watched Roseanne as a child the first time round now I'm watching them with me children (14 and 10) and they are loving it! It's a shame that there's nothing similar on TV. It's a simple concept - an average American low income family - but it's so compelling. I like that they don't dwell on the fact that they are not wealthy.I highly recommend this box set for hours of family entertainment.

One of my all time favourite shows, I can binge this all day. Each season gets better up until the last one. The first half of Season 9 is a bit jarring since it's different from the normal episodes (Roseanne fighting Terrorists on a train, meeting Eddie and Patsy from Ab Fab, dreams about demon babies etc) but then it does settle back to normal. For some reason this show just makes me feel comfortable, and even though I have watch the entire box set about 5 times over the years it still makes me laugh!

Had completely forgotten all about this series so popular during my childhood. Likely stumbled across it by chance and it has proven greater fun then expected or remembered. If, like me, you grew up with this on the telly it is well worth reviewing this series again and find out what a great little gem this series really is. A great success with the family too who had not experienced Rosanne before- definitely makes up for some great family time together. You get to see a number of actors starting off their acting career here too which is a bonus. In my experience, Rosanne is the mother of all modern family sitcoms out there.

Alright, so... The audio is in English, the box and subtitles are in Dutch. Easy to turn off the subtitles.Quality wise, the show ran from 88 to mid 90's, so obviously not HD. For £40, it's a good a deal as you're ever going to get.A few tiny flaws (if it bothers you)... Along the top of the screen, there may be white lines or small white dots that are stationary throughout the show. I'm only on the first two seasons, so I'm not sure if it'll be all through the DVDs. Sometimes for a split second, the video will move slightly, like a problem with the film. This has only happened in an episode (I'm watching right now) on season two.A few years ago, I had the original English box set, and it didn't have these flaws, and it also included extra features that I'm not sure this one has due to being written in Dutch.If you can't find the original English one, and you love this show... £40 is a great price for the box set, and I would definitely purchase it again if I had to.I hope this review helps!

So very glad that I bought this. We all love Big Bang and I mentioned to the family that I remember Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Lesley Winkle (Sarah Gilbert) appearing in Roseanne and how painfully funny I remember it being. I knew they'd love it and I was right! The final series of Roseanne, I feel, runs out of steam early on, but this box set is well worth getting in spite of that because the rest is the stuff of legend. My kids reckon my parenting style is very influenced by Roseanne...not sure if this is a compliment, but it made me laugh!

Gutted. It won't play in the U.K. Having already purchased NTSC dvd's with Burn Notice and they played absolutely fine on my DVD. Plus, there was NO MENTION of these dvd's NOT playing in the U.K, I thought I was safe buying them. They do not work. Having looked closer at my Burn Notice dvd's and this Roseanne dvd, I've since noticed the small print against the NTSC sign at the back. Burn Notice says NTSC, Region 2. Roseanne say's NTSC region 1. So therefore, it's useless. Was so looking forward to watching it, especially as I've just had major surgery. Now I have to find a kind soul to return via a UPS Service Point Location. How marvellous!!!!!!

This is a much missed series (not repeated since the tweets of the main actor) a shame because the writing and acting are very good.The box set is very good value and even if the packaging is basic the disks play well.....Oh if you are not in America then you must have a multi regional player to watch this but we'll worth investing in one just for the joy of this series

I.v.m regio code (kende ik ook niet) kan je deze dvd s niet bekijken volgens internet zijn er wel code vrije dvd spelers maar ja die heb ik dus niet vind het erg jammer dat dit niet duidelijk word aangegeven bij de product beschrijving nu miet de boel weer terug gestuurd erg jammer want was blij dat ik hem had gevonden

Di questa serie (arrivata in Italia col titolo PAPPA E CICCIA.. vabbè) non ricordo tantissimo però ricordo che mi piaceva e mi faceva ridere perciò quando ho visto che c'era ad un prezzo più che conveniente il cofanetto con tutte e 9 le stagioni (senza sottotitoli né italiani e né inglesi, peccato), l'ho ordinato subito. Tempi di consegna ok.

I love this series but it doesn't stream on any networks here and not available to buy on DVD in stores, so this was a good find and a great price
