Jakob 96 in. Wire Rope Plant Trellis System

I had been looking for an attractive modern trellis and I found it with this wire rope system and actually bought 2. Its a very sleek look is attractive by itself, so it looks great while your plants are growing. The 8 feet height works great for me and allows the plants to have support all the way up the wall. I like how the system is set 2 inches off the wall. Being that this is a wire rope system there is some movement in the actual trellis because of the horizontal cables.I had some questions regarding the system. I originally was planning on using it to espalier citrus trees. I emailed the supplier & got an immediate responce from Alex answering my questions. He told me that the weight of the citrus tree might cause the horizontal rods to bend. I took his advice and decided to nix the citrus, but I still wanted the trellis and was content to plant star jasmine on the trellis.I would highly recommend this product for anyone looking for an attractive and sturdy trellis.

The good - High quality and very "clean appearance." All parts were included.The not so good - I bought two at the same time and they charged two shipping charges.The bad - the instructions are printed in such small font that they're practically unreadable. Further, they omit key information such as how much to tighten certain pieces to avoid slack later, how to mount on clapboards (not even), etc.The result is that the first one I installed was a learning experience - a very unhappy one at $250. It looks like crap. The second one - after I'd learned all the dos and don'ts that weren't in the instructions (and would have been only marginally legible if they were), then the second one is quite nice and satisfactory.Bottom line - satisfied with the product (2nd one) and dissatisfied with the price, documentation and transaction.

I love the high-quality stainless steel modern appearance. Detailed instructions, relatively easy to assemble, but you will need a sharp wire rope cutter that generates clean ends. One minor issue during installation are the plastic cross clamps: they are easy to be break when you over-tighten them, as has happened to me. I replaced all of them with 5/32” 316 stainless steel cross clamps from Suncor, which look better too, see photo.

Received the trellis and after thoroughly checking it out, it looks to be a quality made product with good thought put into designing it. In fact, I'm looking into further expanding my trellis wall to possibly triple the size with a few more sets instead of just the one purchased. Will reach out to seller for recommendations.

Excellent, heavy duty, architecturally sound, eye appealing product... I'm training my Madagascar Jasmine to create a plant sculpture as I write this.

Expensive considering the materials. Time consuming to install on stucco wall but it's sturdy and should last for many years.

How I wish the individual components for this system were readily available so I could do more customization, but the system as is is relatively easy to put up and modify for your particular circumstances. No, I wouldn't recommend trying to rotate it 90°, as the vertical pieces are wire rope and the horizontal pieces are steel rods--rotating it would mean it would sag in the middle. But you can cut down the wire rope if you need to, and you can cut the steel rods. I did both in order to maximize the coverage of my stucco covered chimney.Has lasted 8 months with a fruit bearing passionflower plant happily growing up it. No signs of rust yet.
