COTEKCX1225 3-Stage Advanced Battery Charger 12VDC 25A

This item is a smart 120 vac to "12 volt" charger. In reality, it never puts out 12 volts, but it is designed for charging "12 volt" deep cycle batteries. This item works as advertised, provides a very effective charge for my costly Trojan deep cycle batteries. Nice construction. Form factor is nice, but I do note that the "ears" that allow you to mount it are thin but tough plastic, possibly breakable in the worst case situation (dropping it), before mounting. Not a concern after mounting. I would have much rather that the function LEDs were on the same side as the switch, rather than on the "back side"--this alone cost it 1/2 star. This design really limited where I could install the unit in my little pop-top camper.Comes with a little buss bar to connect the two output terminals, but no instructions on how to use it. A bit of inspection solves that (nice design), but it would be nice if they had covered it in the instructions. Puts out the expected charging voltages and current (I measured both at different phases of charge).The manual that came with it was old, not he same as the on-line one, and it appears the on-line one is more accurate. The old manual is also a bit unclear with respect to setting the dip switches, but the newer manual is better--I tried calling the company, only to find that it was a Canadian holiday, before I noticed that the issue was clear in the newer manual. Design of the output terminals is nice, well protected and robust, but you have to be sure you get wires with the right heavy lugs, not all will fit, I ran into this. The fan is very quiet, if this is a concern to anyone, much quieter than my dc-dc charger by Sterling.Overall I am very satisfied and would recommend this unit, based on a weeks worth of use.
