I have a 6 inch wide railing, and I was using brackets to support planters off the front of it. However, every year, at least one planter would jump off at least once, dislodging the plants, and putting anyone who happened to be walking by at risk. No one ever complained or was hurt, and the odds were low that anyone would have been hurt, but it still worried me. So, I was pleased to find these. We shall see how they hold up over the course of a hot, dry summer and during winds and heavy rain. The old planters, interestingly, never jumped during severe weather. My only complaint is that both of the water reservoirs on one planter are loose, so I had to tape them to keep them on, but other than that, I really like the design. Review: Fits, but..... - Nice sturdy planter. Love the deep sides for roots. My only complaint is that they sit so high on my 6" deck railing. Had to cut out some of the under supports. Was able to lower it a couple inches, but still a little high.
