I've owned and used quite a few sandwich makers over the years, so I feel I finally have a good benchmark for what makes a great one. The first sandwich maker I remember was an Equity one that we had while I was growing up. It lasted for years and made consistently great sandwiches. A few years ago, I bought the Flipkart SmartBuy sandwich maker. It actually made really good sandwiches, but the handle broke much sooner than expected. Good performance, disappointing durability. Then began my search for a replacement. I tried iBELL, which had excellent ratings, but it never lived up to the hype. The heating was inconsistent and the results were underwhelming. Next was Kattich, a highly rated German brand. Unfortunately, it heated up far too aggressively. The sandwiches would either burn on the outside or, if removed earlier, be nicely browned but still undercooked inside. High heat isn't always a good thing. In my opinion, a good sandwich maker should heat gradually and evenly. It should allow the filling to cook through while the bread slowly develops an even golden-brown crust. The end result should be a sandwich that's crisp on the outside, perfectly cooked inside, and never burnt. This is where the Milton sandwich maker gets most things right. The heating is much more balanced, resulting in even browning and a crisp texture without scorching the bread. The sandwiches cook through properly instead of just getting colour on the outside. As you can see from the photos, the grill marks are even and the browning is consistent. Is it perfect? No. But after trying multiple brands, I can confidently say it comes the closest to what I expect from a good sandwich maker. It delivers reliable, repeatable results, and that's exactly what I was looking for.
