This is very well made, works great!

Inexpensive replacement that required rework.
This item has several issues. 1. The most significant is that the keys did not fit well in the lock. In both units, it was necessary to use a small file to open the slots for the key to enter and rotate. If you don’t have that tool, you will not be able to use the keys. 2. The original part was made of brass; the replacement is thin steel with a paint finish that doesn't match. 3. The hole pattern in this Indian replacement is slightly off from the original USA-made part. 4. The holes were too small for the rivet kit components, but easily drilled out. 5. The advertisement shows 4 keys to be supplied, but only 2 were in the bag. I would have gladly paid more for a real brass lock that had proper fitting keys. How about offering that as an option?

Looks good!
The trunk lock is great and it took an antique paint very well. Perfect size for what I needed though. I wish it would have come with nails or screws.

Looks like decent direct replacement
It's bright bronze finish over thin steel rather than the tarnished brass of the one I'm replacing, and it is of slightly cheaper construction (mechanism staked to hasp rather than riveted through hinge not riveted for strength), but the footprint and mounting holes seem to align quite well, and stylistically it's close enough. It adds padlock loop, which the original didn't have, and which is also just staked in place, but at worst I can ignore that. Certainly good enough to make the old steamer trunk fully functional, and reasonably priced for what it is.

Decorative lock
Good quality but definitely "decorative "lock as it can be easily picked open. Would have preferred a "weathered" look as an option as it was a replacement on a 1920's steamer trunk

Short on key's like other buyers
As per other people's posts, Only arrived with 2 Keys. 4 are advertised
