Douk Audio U10 Mini Tube Headphone Amplifier, HIFI Stereo Valve Preamp for Home Active Speaker, with RCA AUX Jacks

I have always loved listening to high quality headphones on amplifiers for over 40 years. In the old days I used to etch circuit boards, solder in components and build my own headphone amplifiers and what a satisfying experience this always turned out to be. Moving on to the present with deteriorating close up eye sight, building these amplifiers nowadays is hard work and requires dedication and discipline. I therefore decided it was time to explore the high quality options from China. Scouring the internet led me to ordering up the Douk Audio U10 from other reviewer recommendations. At £60 I took a chance. As it so happened on connecting the small amplifier up its sound quality was in the excellent category. A huge, 3 dimensional sound stage with a beautiful valve quality. Its sound quality is on a par with amplifiers costing up to 5 times as much. It pairs up well with the Sennheiser headphones such as the HD600s, or the HD490s and also works well with Beyer Dynamics and Sony 7506s. I am going to swap out the NE5532 Op-amps for a dual OP27s ie 2227s and upgrade the valves to Mullard 5654s. I will update on the improvements when I try these swap-overs. All in all this must be the biggest bargain hi-fi product of all time. Fantastic sound quality for pennies. Well done to Douk Audio and to Amazon for selling such wonderful products. What a wonderful time to be listening to Hi-fi.

Almost perfect a real giant killer of a head phone amplifier. But it's also really easy to mod and that's the real gem because it's so cheap to do so. First the russian old stock tubes. But driving my HD800S this little amp falls apart when the music gets busy. Test track hans Zimmer pirates of the Caribbean. Why because it needs more power lots more. As 5v 2A only gives 10W. But I now have 5V and upto 40W available. Now it has plenty of head room hughe soundstage. Next op amp upgrade. I love this it sounds better than something 10 times the cost highly recommend.

Usekess. A waste of money.

This little headphone amp is tremendous value for money. Not only does it sound really good it has no trouble driving the most difficult headphones with it's 1100 mW output. Quality can be improved by op amp rolling if you like to experiment. I replaced the ones in mine with the Burson Audio V5i which made a big difference in the sound quality while still keeping the total cost around £100.

Good info for buyers new to headphone amps. There are two headphone jacks on the Douk U10. 3.5mm and 6.35mm. Yes you can buy adapters but even if they look bling, most of those adapters are bad quality (badly wired internally or a poor fit in the socket) and will cause a lot of noise on this amp (and other amps). You are best connecting with whatever the headphone comes with. If the headphone comes with a 3.5mm or 6.35mm connector then use that. If you really must connect with a 3.5 to 6.35 adapter buy a good one and not an unknown one. UGREEN do a decent cheaper one.

I'm a music lover who never took the headphone road, but as a retirement gift, I got a nice pairs of B&W headphone. I used them with my cell phone for a few months and decided to get a headphone amplifier. The U10 had good review, the price was right and the opamp and tubes swapping was a big plus. The tubes were replaced with nice GE 5654 and the opamp replaced by some discret AKLIAM AK05 (need some extension). The result was so good that I bought some wired headphones, the Hifiman Edition XS. I now enjoy very much what I hear. I don't feel the need to upgrade the headphone amplifier. Note: with the tubes and opamp I use, the U10 is almost dead silent, no background noise. If you get a bad copy, just ask for a replacement, it worth it.

A very nice unit with a very big punch love it

El producto no es malo sino que está acorde a su precio, es más yo creo que está sobrevalorado. Yo lo devolví porque el sonido que brindaba no me convencía. Muy plano y con falta de agudos por lo que la experiencia auditiva no era la mejor.

Looks great. Sounds great, easy to use, very nice knob with a satisfying click when it powers on, the slight glow of the tubes I love it all. It provides lots of power for my Sennheiser HD58x jubilees, and it sounds nice and crisp. I'm not picking up much of that warmness or soundstage you'd expect of tubes, but they still sound amazing. That being said these are cheap tubes, but they're very use to upgrade. Highly recommend.
