will timberjack roll logs larger than 15 inches?

It might be able to grip a 15 inch log, but the 48 inch handle probably won't be able to roll it, especially if there is much of the tree still attached to the log! It works great on logs less than 12 inches.

How well does this work with smaller diameter logs? I purchased a Roughneck Timberjack which works great for large logs but not smaller.

Haven't used on small logs that I can lift. If I can't lift I use it, if nothing else to allow placing something below so I can safely cut. Hope this helps

Will the hook swing out of the way for milling?

The hook swings back until contacting the wooden handle...perhaps just about 135 degrees. I just use it to hold ponderosa pine trees for cutting into sections, so I cannot answer aboit milling, sorry.
