No this unit does not have motorized faders.

does it work with GarageBand

According to their website, it works with everything (all major DAWS), so that would include Logic Pro, Ableton, Protools, Cubase and Garage Band)

How is this unit powered please? It says 240V but I cannot see any power socket on it, from the photos.

The unit is powered by the USB cable, it doesn't require a power adaptor. It's a great unit, I've used one for a year or so and really pleased with it. Hope this helps.

Has anyone compared this to a novation zero sl?

Not really a comparison as it's not a Midi Keyboard, just a set of faders and pots
