excellent for a new energy rated model and good on the environment and energy
as im the first reviewer to comment on this machine let me say this im very impressed with this machine this is an upgrade on the purepower range.i found lots of positive things about this machine.1 700 watt A rated energy motor this uses 27kwh of electricity where other machines use double the amount2 B rated clean on all surfaces this machine picked up so much on first use its shows how much was left behind from old machine the results were very impressive.3 hose cleans all 13 steps a real bonus no more standing on the stairs holding the vaccum in one hand tools in the other a safety factor4 full set of tools including turbo brush for stairs5 very large bag capacity 4.2 litres so ideal for busy homes and pets wont need to change so often6 washable hepa filter 7 stage filtration for maximum dust retention with the 2 stage filter bag 9 stage filtration in all7 brushroll excellent quality impressive results on all surfaces even dealing with pet hair8 post motor filter washable no more replacing unless needed do not wash carbon filter that never gets washed.9 use double micro filter bags more then the purepower range these are high suction power and are better at retaining dust then the standard 2 stage purepower bags also invest in air fresheners if u have pets to keep smells at bay10 nice extra long cord so u can clean between rooms with out changing plug sockets.11 carpets are hoovered in record time it took my mum 5 mins to hoover down stairs and she she said she didn't feel exhausted12 not very noisy when used.13 lightweight ideal if u have joint problems.14 the setup was very easy to do and the instructions was simple and easy to followi would rate this machine 10/10 i think this is a very good vaccum well worth the buy.

Pretty Darn Good
Astonishing for the little motor. A good purchase that represents very good value for money. Easily out-performed the 1800 watt bagless it replaced. Excellent long hose. Works OK on different types of carpet and hard floor. Currently using 55p worth of bags per month which is way better than cleaning out the filters in a bagless vac. I will not be buying a bagless again. A small word here: don't read the quick start guide go straight to the 'manual' for the assembly instructions. Assembly is simple but not overly obvious so cheat and glance at the book first.

So glad I am back
I have had Hoover Pure Power before and I was very pleased with them. A friend told me that a Miele would be better for the dog hair so I paid four times the money to purchase a Miele. It was a lot heavier to move around and the tools were hard to access. Although I still have the Miele I have purchased a Hoover Pure Power and am I glad I came back. It makes my cleaning so much easier. I think the suction is as good as the Miele the tools are a doddle to access I will never try to swop again as long as Hoover keep making this model. The only complaint I have is that the new vacuum seems a bit thin plastic compared to previous models but I will see how well it lasts.

spec are good but buidl quality and design are woeful
Initially OK, spec are good but buidl quality and design are woeful. Enign#ma is the right name as if you have one of these you will be continually asking why? We put up with this device for about six months during which it basically fell apart and developed some annoying and dangerous issues, due to which it was returned. Most were attributable to the use of cheap materiels, primarily soft plastic. The replacement we bought (a Bissell, wipes the floor with it, and wipes the floor much better also). I would be interested to see how people who made good reviews got on after an extended period of time.Issues experienced included:Burning smell from drive belt.Black lines on skirting boards due to cheap rubber fenders and failure to use non-marking material.Tendency for tools to fall off back.Tendency for front cover to fall of due to soft plastic catches and excessive gaps between panels.Tendency to blow out dust.Tendency for hose to fall off rest.Tendency - dangerous - for device to topple over when hose is in use, despite following instructions and using alternative mounting point.Failure - dangerous - of soft plastic internal catch meaning device was incapable of remaining upright (the last straw for us).Failure of manual height setting to remain in place due to soft plastic construction, also why no automatic function like other brands at this price point?Failure - dangerous - of inclusion of a simple mechanisim to stop the brush rotating, or elevate it from the floor when the device is upright and stationary with the hose in use, causing carpet damage from the brush.Use of thin silver paint finish that rapidly scratches and wears, also used on high friction surfaces for reasons unknown. All in all very frustrating, and so many issues can only be attributed to both poor deisgn and manufacture. Truly an Enigma.

Disappointed - so look around at what is out there.
Disappointed. I am not sure who the designer was but I think there are a few issues. The handle is rather short - my husband who is over 6ft finds it hurts his back and I would agree wholeheartedly with this as even I find it far too short. It is heavy and perhaps the reason or part of it is because of the weight of the hose. Yes it does do the full length of stairs but it certainly adds weight to the machine. I even find I have to be careful on using the hose for other things as the hoover may tip over. The hook for the cable seems flimsy. On the plus side it does hoover okay. It will probably be a hoover that lasts and lasts - we will see. I wouldn't NOT recommend it but I certainly would have a good look around at what is out there!
