Yale B-YS3-3535NT Anti-Snap 3 Star Euro Thumbturn Cylinder, High Security, 35:35 (70mm), Nickel Finish

Bought for security after we lost a key (somewhere). Fits easily enough and offers some confidence. Got additional spare keys from Yale at a good price as 3 weren’t quite enough. It’s worked perfectly since installation.

Having recently upgraded my home security with the 3 Star Anti-Snap Platinum Euro Cylinder lock, I am thoroughly impressed with its performance and security features. This lock is approved to the high security British Standard TS007:2014 and also carries the Police Secure by Design accreditation, which gave me a lot of confidence in its ability to protect my home. I fitted it with no hitches and it works well. Only issue when ordering spare keys make sure you describe the key type precisely. Although the correct keys were issued immediately.

Be very careful if installing this lock in a door that is the only access to your house. Whether it is a security design or bad design I would need a locksmith to comment but I fitted this to me front door a couple of days ago and found myself locked out even though I had the key!. Our front door is a Hofmann metal insulated security door that latches when it closes so it can’t be accidentally left unlocked.- you need to key to unlatch from the outside. However, unlike the lock that we replaced, this lock will only unlock from the one side if the key on the opposite side is PERFECTLY HORIZONTAL. Even if the key in the inside is only slightly turned (see video) you cannot turn the lock from the outside. So if this is your only access, you are calling out a locksmith or breaking into your own home. Luckily, my wife had gone out of the back door and had another key so we were able to get and turn the key from the inside but it certainly taught me a lesson = take the key out of the lock on the inside!. It is also not the easiest lock to put the key into (as you can see from the video - you have to align it absolutely perfectly). I will be looking at other brands with 3 star rated Euro locks as a replacement to see if they have the same problem.

Great lock. I needed a replacement as my existing cylinder didn't work with the Yale Linus L2 smart-lock as it's thumbturn was not removable and was too thick. I am however removing one star because the thumbturn that came with it is not as pictured. The one I received was as thick, if not thicker, than my old one and would not be compatible with the smart lock if it weren't removable. Thankfully, unlike my previous cylinder, the thumbturn that's provided here is removable, and the Yale Linus L2 comes with a replacement adapter (essentially a thinner thumbturn) that then works with it instead. If this was not the case I would've sent it back. A nice bonus is that the lock itself seems easier to user to turn than our older Brisant lock when manually unlocking with a key.

Perfect fit. As we replaced the locks on our door. Easy to install, smooth to lock. Exactly want we needed.
