nice little portables
personally , i have ordered 10-15 different hard drives past year , all varying capacities and from varying makers . that being said , there are going to be failures . shipping is a whole other thing , who knows what these things go through before the people we buy them from go through ? all said i have had the best luck with these drives from amazon , I've got 5 or 6 now from amazon and all but 1 are still going just fine , had the only 1tb drive i purchased that stopped working and that was well after year of use . a couple of them run pretty constantly via media . the back up software that was pre installed , it takes up little space and is stored on the portable hard drive and NOT your computer , there are MANY other back up options that are just horrible and slow computer at start up which i will not mention and may be better ? this back up software on drive quick and easy back up then it done , no constantly eating system resources . again preference . they are also password protected if need be . anyway 5-6 of these 4tb from amazon ALL been great , the quicker 2 day shipping can only help , these drives bought through amazon have been great and hope buy couple more .

Fast, Reliable, and Easy to Use
I’ve been using this Toshiba Canvio Advance external hard drive to back up my files, photos, and videos, and it has worked flawlessly. The setup was simple—just plug it in and it’s ready to use. Transfer speeds are fast, the drive is compact and lightweight, and the red finish looks great. It’s an excellent option if you need extra storage or a reliable backup drive. Highly recommended!

Great for storing all your PS4 games!!
What can I say, it does what it's supposed to do. I got it for my PS4 because I was constantly deleting games to make space for new ones and re-downloading them when I wanted to play them again. Now downloading games uses a ton of data and can sometimes take an entire day so I was tired of all that nonsense. I researched external hard drives and decided on this 2TB blue Toshiba Canvio. Now I have room for all 50+ of my games and I couldn't be happier. It does what I bought it for and 4 months later I can't think of anything negative to say about it. Setting it up to be used with my PS4 required no effort at all. I just plugged it in, the PS4 recognized it instantly, I formatted it and was all ready to store my games inside of 1 minute. Hopefully it lasts a very long time. I would absolutely recommend this hard drive to anyone looking to add more storage to their PS4. So far I have about 40 games on the hard drive and there is still roughly 500GB of memory left. So I would say that you can store an average of 50 games on the 2TB version. You get effectively 1.84TB to use and the other 0.16TB is used for system memory or something, same as when you get a phone with 32GB but there's only 28GB available. Anyway, this seems to be a great hard drive and I have zero complaints, it runs great.

An excellent external drive.
The Toshiba 1TB External Hard Drive is an excellent file-storage device, that has been working flawlessly for me in the over one year since I received it. During that time, I’ve filled over half of its space. The data transfer is very fast, probably the fastest of any external HDD (hard disk drive) I’ve bought to date (I’ve had three other externals of 320 GB or larger, one of which I still use; the two others eventually failed after some years of extensive use). Also files, including large ones of multiple gigabytes, have not ended up with any flaws transferring in or out of the drive that I have seen (one of my now-defunct HDDs had issues with that on occasion). It’s appears to be still working as well as when I bought it, and the NTFS file system allows me good portability (it’s not PS4 compatible, but if you want you can format it into exFAT or FAT32 so it is). It’s bears noting though, as I’ve mentioned old ones of mine that have gone bad, that HDDs have failure rates higher than both flash drives and newer SSDs (solid-state drives); so while on the former there’s a cost benefit based on size of the drive, it’s a bigger risk than the other two. A good rule of thumb: if something is important, never trust any single storage entity, and make sure you have a backup, or even backups, elsewhere. Likely if you take good care you’ll be able to use it for at least a few years, but you never know.

Much Slower then Specified, Nice Case Instantly Recognized by PC.
The Toshiba Canvio External Hard Drive much nicer drive than the slightly lower priced Seagate version. The Toshiba has a nice textured case that makes it feel sturdy and substantial. The Toshiba activity light is large and easy to see. Most importantly it worked perfectly with no fuss with my laptop both from using USB power to providing reasonable data rates. Speed was marginal, however. See the attached test result. I measured speed using "Flashbench" about 140 MB/s. Toshiba seems to be careful not to state the speed on the Amazon webpage, but on their site, they state about 600 MB/s which is the theoretical max of USB3 so obviously total BS. I won't put too much weight on the measurement since there are so many factors involved. But it works well enough for me to backup overnight so I'm not that concerned over the speed. Toshiba was recognized instantly from a Dell Vostro series laptop using Windows 10. It is being used as a backup drive with Acronis software to regularly back up. The drive has accepted several automated or unattended backups with no issue whatsoever. The red case is great as it is attractive and stands out from the dreary black other electronics usually comes in. The drive end of the cable is no USB so don't lose it. It's some unique cable. Not sure why they would use standard USB.

Works great for XBOX ONE
So far so good. I have it for my Xbox One to give me more storage (it’s annoying how little storage they give). I reformatted it for games (you need to do this - a quick google search will help. Super easy, I followed a YouTube video). Some of the reviews scared me, I don’t spend money without a lot of research and the negative ones freaked me out. The one review that gave a million things and went into detail was really helpful, please refer to that if needed. It’s easy, it just plugs into the USB port thing (you’ll need to find another way to charge your controller if you normally plug your thing into that port, at least on my first Gen I had to). It’s quiet for the most part, I think I can hear a small fan if I’m really listening for it up close, but normally no I don’t hear anything. It gives off a blue light and it’s small so it just sits on top and chills. So far I’ve had zero issues with network connection or respond times. It even let me name my storage (extra junk in the trunk was funny until I realized Xbox only shows the first two words...). Overall, I’d say get it. It’s a good budget external harddrive for XBOX ONE FIRST GEN, and you can pick where you want stuff to be stored. I’m cool with it.

Solid and inexpensive expansion for your gaming console
I own two of these Toshiba drives- one in the 1 TB drive, one in the 2 TB drive, and were purchased in late 2018 and late 2019 respectively. So here is my review based on my long-term use of these drives. 1) The Canvio Advance drives are ABSOLUTELY COMPATIBLE with both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S 2) I have thousands of hours of operational use of these drives at this point. I have had no issues with them. That's not to say the handful of people that have had DOA drives or drive failures experiences didn't have this issue. Drives fail from time to time. 3) Search, read and transfer speeds are excellent with the USB 3.0 connection. 4) Inexpensive 5) Drive is minimalist in size and also attractive. Ultimately, I've really liked this drive, I highly recommend it if you are looking for expansion for your Xbox or Playstation. Though it won't support running Xbox series X|S optimized games directly from the drive, if you have a lot of these on your Xbox, you know the challenges of quickly running out of space on the internal and expansion storage.. this is a good option to store less frequently used games, as you can quickly move software back into your SSD memory to run those high-performance titles.

Works well and looks great - read for Apple/Windows compatibility
I bought this for my sister. In terms of size and looks, this is a winner. In terms of speed, I've used it with USB 3.0 in my laptop and it was pretty fast. If you need a hard drive to carry work around or as a backup, this seems to fit the bill pretty well. My experience with hard drives is that you cannot tell in advance how well they will hold over time, so I have nothing to say with respect to reliability. Update: my sister needed to be able to transfer files between a Mac and a Windows PC. In order to do that, you will have to re-format the drive as it comes formatted with a format that is not writeable on a Mac. The format you need is ExFAT, and from what I have read, it needs to be done on a Windows PC or it will not be compatible on both sides. To format the drive, connect it to a windows PC and do the following: 1) Open up Windows Explorer and right-click on your drive in the sidebar. Choose "Format". 2) In the "File System" dropdown, choose exFAT instead of NTFS. 3) Click Start and close this window when finished. Your drive should now be usable on Mac and PC without limitations! UPDATE: Some comments after reading other reviews. Hope this helps you... * NEVER use a single hard drive as a backup. They fail unpredictably! I've had hard drives that worked for years and others that broke quickly. The same manufacturer can have batches with different quality. If you are going to be using a hard drive like this to backup your files, I suggest getting more than one. * Don't use cheap backup software included with a hard drive. Use Time machine on MacOS or Windows file history on Windows. They work well and are free. If your needs are more complicated, then look at the first bullet and buy better backup software. * For photos and videos, besides backing them up on a hard drive, I upload them to Google Photos (free) and Amazon Prime photos (free with prime for photos only). These are very important for me, so I like having extra copies. * For music, you can backup your library using iTunes backup (if you have it on iTunes) for $25/year. * For other important documents, you should use a cloud drive for backup. Unless you do specialized work, the rest of your data should not be that big.

Otimo produto, nao tem o que reclamar, entrega ridicula
Otimo produto, chegou certinho e funcionando legal.

Worked perfectly for me; nice software supplied with the drive
I have been filling up all my 2TB external drives with content and backups, so it was time to up the capacity, and these 4TB externals came at a reasonable price so I bought two. They are attractive drives, not much different from the competitors', but I like the reddish colour! The drives were packaged in standard plastic with a USB cable. On the drive, there's links to two pieces of software, one for backups (which works well if you don't have a third-party backup solution) and another that allows you to encrypt the drive contents for secure storage. When you insert the USB for an encrypted drive, it asks for the password before it opens the contents. Nice little piece of software. Other than that, the drive works well. Compared to another vendor's 4TB, it's just as fast, but has better software included. No issues with the two drives I bought so far, and I've travelled around the world with one drive being shaken up in my luggage to no ill effects. Impressed, and I'll probably buy more for backup purposes. Follow-up: I've now bought about six of these external 4TB Toshiba drives, some of them active 24/7, and all have worked flawlessly. I travel with two drives containing sensitive data, so I really value the security locking (password protection) feature.

Calidad Toshiba.
