Andrew James 1L Thermal Coffee Carafe Double Walled Vacuum Jug, Stainless Steel Insulated Tea & Coffee Pot for Hot and Cold Drinks, Thermal Jug Flask Leak Proof Dispenser, Durable and Portable

I usually fill a flask with coffee to last me all morning and then another in the afternoon. I find this works for me and saves me having to constantly interupt my work to get a beverage. I wanted to try this Carafe from Andrew James as I know the make to be a good one and the 1ltre size would serve me all day. Made from stainless steel, the Jug is smart looking in design with a black top and black handle and the top has a lever to allow the coffee to pour . This is much better than taking the top off a flask as no air can rush in and cool the contents. I use a strong coffee bag in my flask and I needed 3 bags to make a decent coffee in the Carafe. I made the first lot last night at 10pm to see how long it would keep hot. This morning, at 10am, the coffee was still hot enough to drink and in fact, I used half the contents before getting a fresh brew. I am very pleased with this Carafe from Andrew James and highly Recommend

I have used this jug every day for keeping our early morning cuppa hot & it works perfectly. The wide neck makes pouring liquids in to the jug really easy, with no spillages & the spout pours without any annoying dribbles. The squat shape means that it is very stable & easy to store in a cupboard. I have not tried it for keeping liquids cold but don't see why it shouldn't work just as well. Recommended.

The absence of pop up lid is the only drawback.

The handle is much more practical than many others. Substantial, with grooves for the fingers, and curving inwards, for added safety. For myself the only difficulty is that the pouring slot only opens when lid Is fully tightened. This keeps the heat in. But I have arthritic fingers and can’t open it all the way. I can manage by not quite pushing it all the way when it’s filled. Most people wouldn’t it find it a problem. I can remove the lid very briefly before pouring. But it still remains hot for a long time. Hotter than most I’ve tried.

Use this on a daily basis to hold a kettle full of boiling water to use throughout the day, it does cool down a bit by the end if the day, however a quick ding in the microwave and its back to temp

This is ideal for when you want a hot drink in your garden but don't want to keep going in and out of your home to get one . I take this full of boiled water into my garden and it stays hot I love it .

It looks much better than having a flask in your kitchen and keeps tea hot all day. Makes life easier if you like lots of tea during the day. After leaving it on the side all day it left a grey mark which only came off with bleach so it needs to be placed on a teapot mat / placemat.

On the website it says leak proof, but there's a label on the flask saying do not tilt, liquid will leak! As I wanted it for travel this is no use. Also I was shocked to see there is no way of cleaning the inside of the lid where liquid comes through this for easier pouring, ok if only water is used...but anything else would soon become mouldy and toxic and I would have thought quite dangerous. My last quibble is that the inside looks like it's some sort of non stick coating, the instructions tell you never to use a brush, as it would damage the surface. Again, ok if only water is used, but coffee and tea stain. I simply didn't feel happy using this from a cleanliness point of view. It looks nice, but for anyone saving money by not boiling too much water, you have to boil a litre of water before use, (to keep in the flask for three minutes to heat it) so you've already boiled twice as much as you will need.
