very sturdy
I purchased this for my son. He likes to set out his clothes for work the night before. I put it together and the directions were easy to follow. It's very sturdy.

Beautiful Chair
I just completed construction on the valet chair. It is absolutely lovely and will add so much to our new ADA bathroom. Perfect for putting on socks and shoes or just sitting down to take a brief rest after showering. Construction was a breeze and every part fit perfectly. The end result looks professional, even though I am a "seasoned" Southern lady with no experience in furniture-making. All I needed was a screwdriver and some willingness to follow directions. I had read some reviews that stated that the chair was wobbly or not sturdy. I did not find this to be the case at all. I would highly recommend this chair.

Functional and nice-looking
This chair valet proved ideal for our needs: we remodeled our walk-in closet and needed a chair in there for putting on shoes, plus a place to temporarily place clothes or folded laundry to be put away. The drawer underneath the chair also comes in handy. The color and style match our decor, and the price was reasonable.A word about the assembly process: I do these things in a slow and methodical way, laying out all the pieces, cross-checking them with the list to be sure I have everything, getting the necessary tools, then reading the instructions all the way through twice before starting. Then I proceed slowly, reading again as I go. So it took me about 50 minutes from start to finish -- an hour if you count the time to clean up the Styrofoam mess and cardboard. It can be done much faster if you're the type who likes to charge right in and rush, but I don't recommend that.I encountered a couple if minor hiccups: inserting the pants hanger off the back of the chair requires brute force, and the holes weren't perfectly aligned, but once you get it pushed all the way it, it's secure. I needed to use a rubber mallet to help force it into the holes. Pushing in the coat-hanger support rods also takes strong hands. When the chair was finished, it wobbled slightly when placed on the tile floor of the closet because the legs aren't perfectly even. It's insignificant enough that, if placed on carpet, you won't notice. I glued four small rubber pads on the leg bottoms and that solved the little rocking problem when it's on tile flooring. This isn't in the category of fine furniture, but all in all, we're happy with this functional and nice-looking chair valet.

Nice addition to bedroom.
This is also known as a butler's chair, and it's really nice to have. This is the nicest one I've seen on the market. These chairs were popular in the 60's and early 70's, but they are a bit harder to find now. It came very well packaged to prevent damage, and it didn't take me very long to assemble it. I've purchased two of these now. One for my husband, and one for my dad. Both were well finished and sturdy. The added draw beneath the seat is perfect for socks! An older man can grab his socks and comfortably sit while putting them on. Looks like a nice piece of furniture.

Manchester chair valet
I usually don't write a bad review. If I don't like something I ordered, I just ignore the "review" request. This time, I feel obligated to tell others what they are buying: A piece of garbage. I ordered this as a Christmas gift for my husband. He needs a place to sit while dressing because he has back problems and I thought it would be a nicer alternative to sitting on the edge of the bed. It's what I've been looking for; the picture showed a sturdy piece of furniture that would be a pretty and functional part of our bedroom. And that's where the happy thoughts ended. I'm no stranger to putting things together. I've put together a full wall entertainment center: drawers, shelves, nooks and crannies; bedroom dressers for kids, and a computer desk in less time and aggravation than it took to put this together. There were no holes to meet some screws, or they were misaligned, pieces didn't match up when put together, the rods to hold ties were uneven: they are supposed to pull out when needed and push back in when not; one rod only goes in 1/2 way. The legs are uneven and I won't even get into the pidgin English the instructions were in.This piece is not sturdy. If my husband sat on it I'm afraid he'd fall to the floor. The ONLY reason I haven't sent it back is because I didn't want to get angry all over again by taking it apart. So basically I bought a valet chair that is useless for anything but sit in the corner of the bedroom to hang a shirt on. Yes, the hanger is the only thing that works like it's supposed to. $168.00 down the drain. If you want a functional valet chair, this certainly is not it. I'd give it "0" stars if it were available.

Husband loves it
My husband had an old valet when we married. I threw it out. He missed having it and I felt guilty. So, I researched and ordered this one. He actually likes it better than his old one. It is a pretty cherry wood look and is very sturdy. It has a small storage area which is a bonus.

Assembly
Starting the assembly of the chair was a little difficult, otherwise it is a good product.

Missed Those Holes!
This is my second Valet Chair in a one year period. My first chair was not purchased from Amazon.com and the drawer construction was different (seat flipped-up). That construction weakened the chair by rocking back & forth. Over the year, the chair came a part. However, this chair has a drawer under the seat that works wonderfully. The frustration came in matching-up the key holes and bolts/nuts to secure the structure. As a nice father-son project, out came the power drill to "persuade" the bolts/nuts into place. A good dose of carpenter's glue in all those holes didn't hurt; along with some well-placed clamps for about 60-minutes! The wood material is of very good quality; the staining is also of good quality. The results are a rock-solid, good looking Valet Chair. Father and son are still talking to one another!
