Lady Avery and the False Butler: 3 (Merry Spinsters, Charming Rogues)

Such a cute story! Absurd (in a good way)!
No spoilers in this review....This is the third book I have read in this series and it's my favorite - definitely different than the other two that I read (Ludmilla and Ava). I enjoyed the twists and turns in this story. It was mysterious (not in an eerie way, but it kept you guessing or thinking you knew what was actually happening, only to find out you may have been wrong.) In my subject, I wrote that it was absurd in a good way - by that, I mean that some things were silly and would "never" happen even with a naive character, but it didn't bother me. The absurdity actually added a subtle humor to the storyline, which I thoroughly enjoyed. This story isn't a deep story, but it kept me engaged and I didn't want to put it down. I loved the characters as well. This is my favorite book by this author so far.

Entertaining & sweet romance with chemistry galore.
Remembering this charming and sweet book after I finished it early this morning kept me smiling all day. I loved the author’s portrayal of the heroine Avery. Her courage and desire to experience more of life than she had witnessed or participated in gave the story an adventurous spin. Although some aspects of the plot may have seemed improbable, I appreciated that Sophi Laporte came up with a solution that could be both believable and entertaining. I loved the character of Jerkins but Blackshurst gave me goosebumps. The romance that was developed had chemistry galore and a much desired happily ever after ending.

Loved it. A page turner!
Really loved all the characters, even the bad. The characters were fun and would like to encounter them again. Really enjoyed how the love interest evolves over time. Lerkin is a delight! Avery - well, I’d love to know a similar person in real life. She was funny, smart, terribly naive, and warm hearted. You really want Lady Avery to have her HEA.I had one problem with this book that was jarring and that was in regards to Avery’s Hero (and I chose not to spoil things so not revealing all). He is strong and sexy from the start and then near the end we have him interacting with his Godfather and he turns into a petulant teenager. Given all we learn about the Hero it was badly sorted out. Yes, of course he was a young, brash idiot, literally a teenager at the start of his escapades, but that isn’t the grown man over a decade later who has fallen in love with Avery and she with him.Ms LaPorte is an excellent writer and I know she could have explained the young man versus the brilliant, in control man Avery has come to know.
