⭐️ Beautiful color + amazing nutty flavor! One of my favorites!
✨This was my first time trying Kiyo Matcha I got the Classic Grade Hatsumukashi Ceremonial Matcha, and I’m genuinely impressed. I’ve tried quite a few matchas from Amazon, and a lot of them have been too earthy, bitter, or dull in color. The color of this one is BEAUTIFUL. 💚 When I first opened the tin, I immediately noticed how vibrant and bright green it was—not gray or muddy at all. The nutty smell was also one of the first things I noticed, and you can taste that nuttiness in the matcha too. It’s smooth, not bitter, and very beginner-friendly. 🍵 I made an iced matcha latte using the paste method, (still shifted the Matcha first) and it whisked up super smooth with a beautiful fine micro foam rather than being overly bubbly. It also layered really nicely. I personally used around 5g, which gave me the strong flavor and vibrant green color I like (don’t baby you’re matcha the more grams you use the better color and taste. Your Matcha will have) If you like smooth, nutty, vibrant matcha and don’t want something overly bitter or earthy, I definitely recommend giving this one a try! 🍵💚

Great for beginners!
This is my first time making matcha. I'm tired of paying $8 for a matcha latte, so I decided I would venture out to try and make it my own. When you get this container, it comes in a silver bag and a little pamphlet explaining all the different types of matcha and their flavor profiles. This is super helpful especially when you're a beginner and falling down the rabbit hole of the matcha world. This specific matcha is a very vibrant green and has an earthy smell to it. I did make my first batch of matcha successfully. The taste of umami is definitely there(it made my mouth water), and there's a slight bitterness and astringency. I sifted 5g of the powder and added 15ml of room temp water to make a paste, followed by another 15ml of hot (not boiling) water. This recipe created a decent microfoam with my little bamboo whisk! Layers very beautiful on top of my almond milk. All in all, the quality to me is fantastic. For ~$25 ish bucks I'd say this was well worth it to try out for all the beginners like myself.

Perfect flavor profile to me
For beginners to good quality matcha, this one and the white tin from this brand (organic version) are the BEST. The flavor profile is literally perfect. Even those who don’t like matcha will like this, especially in a matcha latte. It has a slight natural sweetness, so no need to sweeten much at all. Just a dash of maple syrup in a matcha latte is more than enough. No bitterness at all. Slightly nutty. Also to add it’s super bright green when freshly opened, and stays a nice color even after being open for more than 30 days. Some brands get a really dull color in way less time. This price is also the best value you’re going to find! I will keep coming back for more!

8/10 — Good for daily lattes & deep umami. Not recommended for usucha & koicha.
I give this matcha an 8/10. Great for daily lattes. It’s a bright, vibrant green, and the powder is fine. It’s medium bodied and has a deep umami punch during the middle of the taste. I don’t really recommend this as an usucha or koicha—it’s pretty bitter and astringent. It’s also slightly clumpy and grainy. It holds up pretty well in milk though. Overall, this is a pretty good matcha for regular everyday lattes.

Excellent Choice for Seasoned and. Ew
The best matcha for the price! Bright deep green and excellent balanced flavor that is distinct enough to cut through milk, but also enjoyable and pleasant even for people who are new to matcha. I’ve gotten so many compliments on my drinks from people who don’t normally enjoy matcha!

GREAT beginner matcha
Gonna start with- I am not a matcha expert nor do I claim to be. My preferred way to drink matcha is latte, mostly because I can drink more of it, aaaaand I just like lattes. Anwyay, On Kiyo’s website: this is listed as a beginner matcha, so if you’re interested in, Kiyo’s Hatsumukashi is the way go. Cultivars - “Yabukita, Saemidori, others” I love the color! It’s a vibrant green! More vibrant then the last matcha powder I tried. I’ve tried this as an usucha and in a latte, and it’s such a treat. In a latte, the bitterness and astringency is at a minimum, if any at all, I can barely taste them. As an usucha, I taste can minimum bitterness, but the aftertaste was sweet! I loved it! I There is a sweet grassy, vegetal scent that I find refreshing. Also, the tin is a bit smaller than some brands that I know, but I love that it is this size. this is the 2nd time I’ve purchased Kiyo’s Hatsumukashi. The price per gram, and the taste, is not a bad deal.

Value for money
I’ve tried different matcha on Amazon and find that Kiyo is the best and now I have to repurchase it. Its vibrant green, creamy texture and umami taste really stands out from other brands at the same range. It has earthy smell, and creamy texture. I can barely taste bitterness and astringency in latte. Really value for money compared to other brands.

Great for beginners or people who’s not into that strong grassy matcha taste.
The color is vibrant and super green. However the smell of the Matcha powder is not as strong as I would like it to be. Nor was the flavors very present. I could taste a hint of the nuttiness but the umami and matcha taste was missing. At first I used 5g of Matcha powder for a 16oz cup that contained 190g of milk and I couldn’t taste the matcha flavor so then I tried 7g of the matcha powder on another 16oz 190g milk and I can finally taste just a hint of the matcha flavor. The powder blended super smooth and was creamy after mixing it with warm water. There was a hint of the powdery after taste but that’s probably because I used such a big portion of matcha powder for my latte. All in all this powder is good for people who don’t really like that strong grassy matcha taste but just wants a hint of it. Really had high hopes for this one because of all the reviews I saw online. Maybe it might just be because I got the classic grade. I’m sure the other grades matcha powder this brand carries probably has a stronger matcha taste. This specific classic grade matcha is affordable and good for beginners who are just starting out on Matcha. :)
