The Best of OMD

This CD is totally awesome! :-) I have the vinyl, which I purchased in the 80's, of course, and loved and loved until it got a bit scratchy. The songs originally on the viny which come on the CD are wonderful like I remember them :-) This CD comes with some extra songs, which at first listen I could take or leave; they sound like "B-side" songs (hmmn... does today's CD-generation or MP3-generation know what that is?), so they're a bit, um, "different", but I am starting to get used to hearing them. I'd probably miss them now if I switched to the regular version of this CD.All-in-all, a totally awesome, rad CD, dudes! :-)P.S. I had the CD playing when a 15-year old was over, and she asked me what type of music it was, when it was from and who was it. I told her it was New-Wave, and the basic year range, and that it was Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark / OMD, and they were awesome. She agreed! :-)

This cd was released in 1988. It had the then hit Dreaming a top 40 single on it. All the material is pre-1990's,so that is why there is nothing from the Sugar Tax,Universal,or Liberator on it. The cd OMD The Singles has the 90's hits with practically the same line up as this one. This one contains Genetic Engineeering,Telegraph,Secret(a US charter)Le Femme Accident,and the abosoultely fabulous We Love You. I play this cd every weekend usually starting friday night into Saturday morning or as long as the Carlo Rossi Paisano lasts. I mean the big jugs. I'm sentimental as it reminds me of the 80's club kids one used to see everywhere before the plague years. This is one of the best techno-pop ever. Naked Eyes is another and of course Marc Almond/Soft Cell. This is the Trinity of electronica.

First off - the record arrived quickly and was in nearly new condition - not even speck of dust on it and it plays like new. The album is a fantastic must have if you're an OMD fan and sounds superior to the CD - more subtle details in the sound and better dynamic range. I'm very happy with my purchase!

This is one of my favorite 80s rock groups. I became enamored with synthesizers in the 1970s and when rock bands began to incorporate them into their sound I was in heaven for several years. This is a compilation of their best known songs from their run as a band. Recommended.
