A excellent place to start
If, like me, you are considering property as an investment but really don't know the basics, this little book is a great place to start. It covers the primary principles including equity, leverage, strategy and goal setting - and does so with lightness and humour. This book switched a few lightbulbs on for me and since finishing it (I've actually read it twice and refer back to various sections every now and then) I have clearly defined my goals and strategy and for the first time can see how property investment could be for me and not just 'other people'. If you are already familiar with the basic concepts, including goal setting and selecting your ideal tenant group, then you may not find anything new in here; as the title suggests it is a For Beginners guide. The book makes provides other good sources of information and gives access to some spreadsheets that do some of the essential number crunching you'll need to do if considering investing in property. The advice is practical and easy to understand. The author, Rob Dix, comes across as a regular guy who has, through property, been able to create a degree of financial freedom for himself and and appeared happy to respond to an email question I had which you definitely wouldn't get with every author. Since reading the book I've also become a regular visitor to his website (www.propertygeek.net) to supplement the material in the book. I am happy to recommend this book.

nice book but not sufficient knowledge to start
I really like this book. There a lot of tips for newbies in property investment, but it is not enough to start. I can strongly recommend to read Rob Dix's 2nd book "The Complete Guide to Property Investment" which is brilliant!

Excellent book!! 10/10
I bought this book having been a key follower of Rob's Property Geek podcast in iTunes and his Property Geek blog, which is rich with property content. I was not dissapointed with this book. I finished it in little over a day and a half, it was that good. I've got 4-5 property books on my bookshelf right now, but this one goes with me everywhere. It was easy to read, with very clear and easy to understand examples of all the property jargon you read in the magazines and hear at networking events but were afraid to ask! I now have a firm grasp of leverage, yields, the questions I need to ask to clarify my goals and strategies...this is just a few of the things I have learnt.I love Rob's style of writing. It is very witty, yet concise and relevant. Great for newbies to get a general feel of all the options available to you, with some nice pointers to get you started on understanding how to get on that path to success. All in all 10/10. A definite must buy. I've already recommended to two of my friends already and am awaiting to hear their feedback. Thanks for a great book Rob and I look forward to your next one.

Excellent book
I am currently reading this book for the third time because it contains some things that I believe I must learn off by heart in order to ever succeed. For anyone who is yet to take the plunge into property investment and doesn't know where to start (like me), this is a worthy investment. It's easy to read and educational. What I love most about this book is that Rob Dix is clearly being very transparent about the pros and cons of certain aspects of property investment and about the challenges you will likely face. If you are still unsure about whether property investment is right for you - again this book can really help you decide that. It's not black or white, like many articles online are. It gives you a full enough picture to give you stability in whatever you decide. I definitely recommend it.
