Cambridge Primary English is a flexible, endorsed course written specifically to support Cambridge International Examinations' curriculum framework (Stages 1–6). This colourful Learner's Book includes the following features. Nine thematic units on exciting topics to engage young learners. Activities encourage learners to actively explore, use and apply their core listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through individual, pair and group work. Lively international fiction, non-fiction and poetry texts which form the basis for teaching reading and writing skills. Language focus boxes throughout which help to teach and reinforce grammar points. Review: Great English Course - I home educate my son, and we have been using these books for his year 5 English class. There are a variety of units, each with different themes, most he has really enjoyed, but others not so (as you would expect from a 10yo boy). I have found it a very useful resource as it covers grammar, writing and comprehension. There are separate spelling activites in the back of the book, but we did not use these. We used the learner's book and the matching activity book. We did the Learner's book orally, and then used the activity book for written work. I like that many of the activities involved 'discussion with a talk partner', and giving presentations, as well as the more standard written work. We will be using the next level for year 6.
