jar lid loose, packed in paper instead of sealed plastic, smelling of organic solvent
The jar lid was loose, and the jar was improperly packed in crumpled paper instead of sealed in plastic, as would be any liquid shipped correctly, let alone a toxic compound. The box smelled strongly of organic solvent, suggesting some of the contents had sloshed out into the packing paper, or simply vaporized. Due to chemical sensitivities, I use a respirator mask with carbon cartridges when working with polyester resin, but was unprepared for the solvent exposure from opening a small paper box, as I fully expected the toxic contents to be responsibly packed for shipping.
