nostalgia
good film, pretty old but still worth a look. One I remember as an x film when I first saw it having been sneaked into the cinema by my mother, who swore blind I was over 16, and did the same for many more so called "horror films" of the time.

A 1950's Science Fiction Detective Story in Stunning 3-D
GOG 3-D is everything I hoped it would be when I first read the synopsis. First of all, it's brimming with ideas. Be they prescient or wide of the mark, they're honest attempts to address the future of technology in ways both cautionary and optimistic. There's a gee-whizz element to many of the experiments shown, at least at first. I love that. It's at the heart of most of my favourite science fiction stories. First light the audience's imagination, then explore the shadows. The 3-D is so good it shot GOG straight into the top drawer of 50's sci-fi movies for me. A big part of the appeal of those films is that they don't look, or more importantly feel, anything like today's genre counterparts. Viewing one is like peering back in time. And in 3-D, it's so much more experiential. Transportive. It places me inside the labs as a witness to this clever little detective story as it unfolds. I can almost interact with the funky tech. I get a much greater sense of confinement and immediacy. It's that word again--immersive--that best sums up the best 3-D, and Golden Age 3-D, as this restoration proves once again, is the best. The film has a decent cast, it's smartly directed and designed, and apart from the ridiculous flailing arms of the two robots, the special effects work. I'd actually rate it higher than It Came From Outer Space (another 50's sci-fi movie in 3-D), and of course The Bubble isn't fit to shine its wheels. To this fan of vintage sci-fi, GOG rules.

Never seen this movie before
I had never seen this movie before and I am not disappointed. The sound and picture quality in my opinion is first rate given the age of the movie. Regretfully the 3D effect gave me a headache so I watch it in 2D it did not however spoil my enjoyment . Highly recommended to all who like vintage sci fi.

Clunky - fun
This is c-movie Saturday morning pictures fare - laughable in its hammy acting, poor script and very silly robots. Crazy German professors, superficial love interest women, and rugged but uncharismatic lead man with a gun completes the film. A plot that could have had some potential was squandered because of budget constraints and unimaginative screenplay. The sets were quite good - having raided the spares warehouse of Bendix Aiviation - but the robots look like the winners of a nursery school painting competition - complete with crazy arms and phallic flamethrower. Surely Robbie from Forbidden Planet shows that you can create a plausible and menacing robot.

1950s sci gi
Superb 1950s sci fi with robots running amok. The 3d effects are superb for a film from 1954.The rest of the film is a basic 1950s sci fi drama. Visually the 3d effects are superb which make up for some of the hokey 1950s effects.
