Wired Doorbell Camera v2(Existing Doorbell Wiring Required), 2K HD

This doorbell is excellent! The original wyze wired doorbell was excellent as well, but this has the microSD card storage which was a major factor for me when deciding whether or not to purchase this to replace my original wyze wired doorbell. I read some of the bad reviews and got a little concerned because my original wyze doorbell camera worked flawlessly for years, and didnt want to deal with it, if it had issues. I went ahead and purchased this new v2 wired doorbell, because ive never had any issues with my wyze products in the past. I got it installed quickly, and everything has been perfect from day 1! i havent experienced any of the issues mentioned in some of these reviews, and its been installed for over 4 months now. I love having the microSD storage and the improvement in picture quality over the original wyze wired doorbell is huge. The only thing that annoyed me was during the install, the wires didnt fit if you wanted to install the doorbell flat against the wall. The only way i could get them to fit was to install the angled wedge to point the doorbell left or right. I didnt want to point the doorbell at an angle, so i installed this temporarily. After installing it with the angled wedge, I then had to purchase a seperate wedge kit, which included wedges that pointed straight ahead. I was then able to fit the wires, inside the wedge, after adding the straight wedge in the kit (that points down slightly). Problem was quickly solved, but I think the wedge kit should be included with the doorbell, or include a wedge for installing the doorbell flat against the wall so there is room for the doorbell wires. Either way, not a big deal for me, and was an easy $15 fix. I also love that you can use your mechanical chime with this new v2 doorbell. Highly recommend!

It was ok

I purchased my first Wyze camera in ‘22; that camera no longer works consistently. I was pleased with the actions of that camera so I purchased five more in December 22 and had them installed outside my house in January 2022. Within 10 days, the new shed camera went off-line. I quickly learned one of the main drawbacks of these cameras: you have to access the camera to put it back online. So up to the top of my 15 foot ladder I went. It took a while, but I was able to get the camera back online. It stayed connected for about three days before going off-line again. I left it off-line for about a month before repeating the process. The shed camera no longer works because it will not connect. It recorded video for roughly 4 weeks over a span of five months. One of the cameras purchase was a Zoom camera. It does a great job of zooming, it is crisp. But again, I can’t get it to stay online. Therefore, I had to remove it from where it was installed and place it within easier reach. This defeats the purpose of it being a security camera because everyone has easy access to it. There was a period of time last fall when the cameras began acting correctly, after switching to Fios. (Thought the shed cam was just a fluke.), In August ‘24, purchased 2 doorbell cameras and the vacuum in January’25. All three of those products seemed to work at first. But one of the doorbell cameras has not worked since April; it’s now, August. Even after unplugging and restarting, it does not work. The vacuum cleaner which is superior to IRobots, began going off-line in the first month, just like all of their other products. I contacted customer service, but was unable to get any thing to work. Of course they no longer support any of the cameras that I purchased. Wyze knows, that the business of going off-line is a major problem. Before you even consider purchasing this, read the reviews on Reddit and other websites. Longtime users, such as myself are not happy with these cameras. Everything has a lifespan of one to two years, if you’re lucky.For the doorbell cameras, very similar to Ring, by the time the doorbell has rung & it comes up on your phone, the person has probably already left. It takes a good 20 to 30 seconds. At this point when someone rings the doorbell it doesn’t even show up on my phone. I’ve had two incidents where I really needed to have security cameras that work. The farmer next-door decided to spray fertilizer pellets while myself and 10 others stood outside my house talking. We were probably 15 feet from the field, but those fertilizer pellets sprayed 50 to 60 feet beyond the field. Neither of the two doorbell cameras nor three cameras pointed towards the field picked up nine people running and ducking for cover behind cars, while being pelted with hard pellets just a bit smaller than BB!!!‘s. I braved the barrage, jumping up and down and waving my arms trying to get him to stop and notice what was happening. This went on for approximately four minutes and NONE of the cameras recorded these events. I really needed the video so that the farmer could see how long I tried to get his driver to stop, how people were laying down behind cars in my yard, etc. Instead, I had to rely on my phone camera, showing cars covered in fertilizer, after the event. On the second event, someone did donuts in my yard the doorbell camera that no longer comes online and the front yard camera did not pick any of this up. As a matter of fact, they didn’t even pick up a DoorDash driver dropping food off on the front porch in front of the doorbell. I wish I could have the $800+ that I invested. I absolutely do not recommend Wyze doorbells, or any other Wyze products. While they look good at first, the technology is low quality; security cameras that go off-line and cannot self reboot are not security cameras.

Our previous video doorbell by LaView quit working, so I started looking for another video doorbell that would fit our needs without breaking the bank. I have to say that this Wyze video doorbell exceeded my expectations. Installing it was quite easy (since I I had done the previous doorbell). Unlike some who have complained about the doorbell module, I didn't have any issues installing it on my mechanical doorbell per the step-by-step online instructions, and it works perfectly fine. The video quality far surpasses the old LaView doorbell, and the fact that I can see color at night (night vision is off) is a great bonus. In fact, it works so well at night with the night vision turned off, that I can even see the homes across the street in color in the dark. The field of view also works well for our purposes...we can see our entire front porch. I am using an SD Card for storage (not the cloud services), and that is also working fine so far. The only concern I have is that this doorbell doesn't have any type of anti-theft protection, but that is not an issue in our neighborhood. The two-way communications also work great...we were at dinner one evening and a neighbor rang the doorbell. The app on my phone notified me, and I was able to quickly bring up the app and have a conversation with them while 10 miles away from the house. They could hear us fine, and we could see them, and the sound quality was like a regular phone call. I consider the Wyze Video Doorbell an excellent value and will certainly consider their other products in the future.

I just moved into a house and thought that I should have a video doorbell. I already had several Wyze devices so it was a no brainer to get this brand. I liked that I was able to wire this into the old doorbell. That way I don't have to worry about a battery going dead. It was pretty easy to install. The biggest issue I had was getting it connected to the app. It had a really hard time scanning the QR code. That was the most frustrating part. I feel like that took me the longest. The quality of the camera is very good. I also purchased the SD card so that it will continually record. I just go back every few days and delete old notifications. I'm so glad that purchases this video doorbell.

I tried out the pro/wireless version of the wyze doorbell first, because I live in an apartment and don't have a doorbell to connect the v2 to. My roommate and I split the cost (which isn't the cheapest!) but we quickly came to realize we hate the wyze doorbell pro for the following reasons: it's big, clunky, not the best resolution, doesn't record continuously like all the other wyze cameras, no micro SD card so you miss events or things that happened, you can't turn off the light circle on the camera itself (this is a HUGE issue on the Wyze forums, there's a huge forum for exactly this light ability), you have to charge it sooner the higher your detection settings are and the more events it detects (about every 3 weeks for me)... I'm sure there's more but we'd only had the pro for 4 months before I bought the wired v2 the other day and I'm so happy I did. This is exactly what I was looking for. I wish I could return the wyze doorbell pro cuz it's a piece of junk and wasn't cheap, but whatever, at least I have a good working doorbell now that I won't miss any events for, don't have to worry about cool down periods cuz I can just check the history, I was able to turn off the circle light, turn off the doorbell sound for the camera itself when pressed by someone but able to hear the subsequent doorbell sounds thru 3 of my cameras in my apartment. It's also got such better resolution and day and night vision than the pro. I used a transformer that plugs into my wall to make this happen (bought it on Amazon - search for ring doorbell transformer - I also left a review on the one I bought in case you wanted to know which it was, I just can't link it cuz amazon). The setup is janky af, but it's exactly what I wanted and needed. I guess the pro version is a paperweight now lol

Works well. Good deal for the price. Note: Since this connects to your existing doorbell wiring and chime, it can take some patience and work to set up. If you are not a DIY type person, you may not like it. My only complaint is that it has flaked out twice over the past several months and switched to flashing orange, requiring me to reset the circuit breaker it is connected to. Hopefully this is a rare occurence.

Wyze doorbell V2 Skip to the last paragraph for the shorter summary version! I’m a first time smart doorbell owner and bought the Wyze doorbell V2 since I’ve never been enthused about storing personal stuff in the cloud. I bought a memory card and prepared to go about my plan to avoid buying a subscription. The doorbell went into service in February of 2024. I decided to write the detailed review that I wish I had seen before buying. Installation: The installation instructions within the app and tips at the company website were good. I have a newer house, and my existing transformer worked fine to connect it to the house doorbell chimes. The mounting plate is quite flimsy and it felt like it could easily break if I have to remove the unit later for any reason. A more robust mounting plate of ¼” to ½” depth would be a HUGE improvement to increase strength and give a little more space for the wires and connectors to reside. I actually cut a piece of an old plastic kitchen cutting board to the right size and cut in a center cavity for the wires. The doorbell bracket is mounted to that. I don’t think many people would go to that trouble though. The mounting bracket/doorbell unit should also have a locking screw for a more secure installation. With the current design, the doorbell itself is just supposed to pop off the notched pins on the mounting plate by pulling up and out if it needs to be removed. I haven’t tried to remove it since installation day. I’m afraid it would just break the wimpy mounting plate. The memory card needs to be mounted underneath the doorbell unit (hidden from view) and protected by the same lock screw. Currently the memory card mounting slot is on the side of the unit and covered by a little rubber flap to protect it from the weather. It could easily be removed by anyone. Mounting plate and memory card slot design takes away one review star. After installation: The motion detection notified me when someone was on my porch and provided a picture and video, even if they didn’t ring the doorbell. Great! Not as great is the fact that there is a delay of a few seconds (sometimes MUCH longer) to get the notification. The memory card does allow things to work without a subscription (sort-of). It gives WAY too many false alarm notifications when the motion detection sees car headlight beams flashing on the porch side wall, large flying bugs, distant lightening strikes, wildlife, porch chairs rocking in the wind, leaves blowing, etc. The app has “AI” settings that notify ONLY when a person or pet, etc. is detected, but these are available ONLY with the pay subscription. The “AI” filter controls in the app are grayed out and unusable unless you subscribe to a pay plan. Without subscription you’re left with the remaining available motion detection filters. Though tweaking these trimmed false alarms down a bit, there were still too many to be considered reasonable. I sincerely doubt that any other house in any location would be any different. Added to that time consumption is the long learning curve to figure out how to JUST SEE a video of what happened when an event took place. I finally figured out that it involves going from the “Events” screen, back to the “Home” screen, clicking on the doorbell image located there, then clicking the “SD Card” control, and then going back to the “Events” screen and then clicking on the desired event. Ya got that? I think one Amazon customer named James references the overall experience in his review as the device providing him with a “part-time job”. I've tried the sound feature only once. It was disappointing. False alarms, notification delays, sound quality and awkward app software take away 2 review stars. I spent HOURS over many days doing my level best to dial in the filters, but eventually came to the conclusion that I needed to bite the bullet and spend the money on a subscription. On the plus side, the subscription is cheap in comparison to other brands. It’s now clear to me that the Wyze hardware and software have been carefully crafted to guide all of us to that decision, while at the same time selling us with advertising that a subscription really isn’t needed. Imagine that! With a little bit of hardware/software design tweaking along with adjusting the corporate greed dial back a couple of notches, The NEXT version of the Wyze doorbell COULD BE the perfect product! Do you hear that Wyze? You could make billions and actually lead the industry in the ethics department! I spent the money on a memory card for my initial “no subscription” concept. The memory card is still there now that I have the subscription, though I don’t know if it’s really needed. I think it might allow me to see longer video clips than those provided by the subscription cloud memory, but I don’t try to do that much anyway. The Wyze product designers probably put the card slot there on the side (in that insecure location) to allow easy removal after subscription purchase? Deceptive marketing takes away one review star. Backlighting is a problem for the camera. With bright daylight behind, the faces in the shadowed area of my porch covered porch area aren’t much more than a dark head-shaped blob. Support took me through several processes to try to overcome the issue, but no joy. I assume software updates to the doorbell unit could address this problem in similar way to settings available on many other digital cameras. It would be great if the company chooses to do so, but I’m not holding my breath. Minus half a review star for backlighting issues. For anyone hoping to end up with a good workable doorbell camera WITHOUT subscription, my honest review is - ONE HALF of a star out of a possible 5. My doorbell has been in use now for a while and the subscription filters have done pretty well. Few, if any false alarms. Early on, I responded to a bunch of requests that popped up in the app asking me to help the company tune in these AI filters by sending a copy of the trigger event picture with a label that explains what triggered it. That may have helped (or not). Ending up with a fairly usable product with an inexpensive subscription price gives back 2.5 review stars. If you’ve skipped to this paragraph for the summary version, here you go: If you have a bit of skill at home maintenance and following directions, you can probably get this doorbell successfully installed and working (sort of). If you hope to end up with a well functioning doorbell camera that doesn’t require a subscription, you’re out of luck unless you just like playing around with tech and don’t mind MANY false alarm notifications per day. Save yourself a HUGE amount of time and trouble and just get the “Cam+” subscription right away. Figure it into the initial purchase cost as a feature that allows you to pay more money on a regular basis, and probably increasing incrementally forever. The subscription AI filters do the job well and allow you to spend some time on other (non-doorbell) things that may pop up in your life. – Review grand total: 3 stars

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much for the price—but the Wyze Doorbell v2 totally blew me away. The video is super sharp (2K quality!), even at night. I can see faces clearly and even packages left right at the door. The tall view shows everything top to bottom—no more guessing what the motion alert was. Setup was easy, and I love that it works with both 2.4 and 5GHz Wi-Fi. The app is quick, easy to use, and sends alerts right away. Plus, it works great with Alexa! If you want a solid smart doorbell without spending a fortune, this one’s a no-brainer. Totally recommend it.

The Alexa skills in the UK don't work so no using them as the ringer. Great picture and local storage but all useful app features are behind a pay wall.

Easy to set up and fit. The day I installed it, it needed resetting on 4 occasions. On day 2 I had to restart it again, although only once. After that it seemed to work fine for the next 4 days, connecting to mine and my wife's phone and recording all visitors and motion in front of the house. Great. Then on day 5 it stopped working and after an hour trying to reset and resuscitate it I gave up. Amazon customer service were amazing and they gave me a full refund, but sadly my Wyze 2 doorbell proved a dud.
